I just discovered it yesterday, and immediately was amazed by how awesome it is.
Anybody played it?
-
i used to play that game on my super nintendo when i was a kid, like not even double digits. it kicks ass.
-
Difficult to play it with a keyboard. :nervous:

What do you mean?

I guess he's never heard of PC gamepads, or PSX->PC adapters, and he's assuming you're emulating.
Cybernator was pretty hard. Not as hard as Target:Earth, but pretty hard. Fun, though I thought T:E got across the point that you're a soldier in a war larger then you better then it did.
Since I'm guessing 5-1 you're emulating, and you haven't just managed to dig up an actual cart, I'd suggest you look into the afforemention Target: Earth for the genesis - it's Cybernator's predecessor. And you might want to dig up Front Mission: Gun Hazard. Despite the name, it has zippo to do with the tile based game, and IIRC it started out as Assault Suits Valken 2 (Cybernator 2). It's got no space scenes, and some rudimentary RPG parts, but it's pretty much 16 bit giant robot fun.

i just beat it 2 months ago in zsnes. keypad + asdzxc. helps if you set up diagonals. though i have beat it on the super nintendo a few times back in the day, frankly the keyboard doesn't tire your hands as fast as a snes gamepad does.

You should get the translation.
A lot of stuff was cut from the game during localisation.
-
dunno if it works away from the SNES but if you can make it through the first level without killing any badguys (save the boss) you get a hidden weapon.
-
I'll have to try that.

That, or you could read my post.

I mean that it is difficult to play the game with a keyboard as the input device.

AIeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
<Cybernators biggest FAnboi.
The Pacific States was my first console alligience verging on fanaticism.
I wanted the Versis,. an assault Suit, and my very own Arc Nova Station.
The intro is pure genius, and the music is great.
I actually feel sad remembering: "THE SARATOGA'S BEEN BLOWN TO BITS!!"
They had the best beam cannons in the world in that scene....... Thats how FS ships should crumble.......

Y'know it's funny... until today I would've sworn I was the only English bloke who's played this game (and was willing to admit to it).

you're kidding right ? It wasn't that rare :p
-
I bought the cart from a cash converters style place round eastbourne way back in the mid nineties...
I love the game, Multiple endings on platformers are rare too. ANother tick in the Cybernators favour.
-
My first FS project cruiser started as a failed Versis clone
-
I rented this a few times way back in the SNES days but never beat it until I emulated it a couple years back. Class game, great fun.
But multiple endings? You sure? Christ, it took enough effort just to beat it once.
-
the only think that really changed was the way the story ended. you loose the girl if you fail too many missions.
-
Only if the Arc-nova made it back to Earth. I think the shuttle launch may play a small part but i doubt it :) random point: my fave weapon is the maxed out vulcan
-
Punch for the win!
untill you get to the caves and it's missing you've only got a weedy vulcan to kill that burrowing robot thing.....

If anyone cares, here's a link for the translation:
