Title: The UEF Frigate
Post by: Kolgena on May 29, 2009, 04:10:58 am
The best model in the game, IMO. However, I have a tiny gripe with it.

For me, the Chinese is mirrored on the texture. Yeah. the one character on the starboard side is fine, but the whole bunch of words on the other side are all backwards.

Also, to satisfy my curiosity, does anyone know what it means? I can figure out what the characters are, but it looks like it was sent through a web translator :/

星奉[something with 商 as the left half] 仁
[can't tell]什乙者
冬西無

Right now, I can say that it's written in traditional, and coupled with the fact that I can't see the words in detail (I'm using F3), I'm not certain that these characters are the right ones. However, it already reads like gibberish. The last line I'm positive is correct, and it means (literally translated) "winter west none", which would be pronounced the same as the phrase "nothing".

You should just take a look at the texture itself, to read the text.
I remember going over it once, forgot what it said though.

I still like 'Man-Sword'. It's very Freudian.

Also, the Karuna frigate is just an utter joy to see in action. I daresay it'll be an iconic ship on the level of the Deimos, Orion, or Raynor.

That's what I think.

The description I read on the website suggests that the Karuna is the workhorse of the UEF. I really like the idea, I find that vessel incredibly versatile. :)

The text was taken from a wall scroll, and (to my knowledge) goes along the lines of "The humane person has no enemies". But I'm taking the word of the retailer who was selling the scroll, so it could be anything and I wouldn't know it :P

仁者无敌

That's how you'd say "The humane person has no enemies/The humane person is unbeatable"

Oh wait, you said scroll. It makes sense now... I was supposed to read it up to down, left to right.

But yeah, any chance we could get that text unmirrored? :)

Well if it's mirrored, all you need to do is mirror the text on the texture and it'll unmirror itself.
I could do it if you want, though it won't look good as it's not on a separate layer...

Sure. The texture's due for an art upgrade anyway. :)
