Oooh. And it's on UT3 engine too- AFF: Planetstorm's space battles looked pretty good on that engine, so it looks like this new title's got a solid technological base. Also, the devs' explicit goal is to revitalize the space shooter genre? I approve, and so should most people here.

Can't say I'm exited, this is clearly just a promotional video... no real footage so there's nothing to talk about right now save for the fact that there's a new title coming along.

I'll wait for some more details to be exposed before saying anything else.

Actually, about 4-5 years ago it wouldn't have been, there were suspicions that we had over-estimated the minimum size a star needed to be to go Supernova, but it turned out to be a false alarm

Just realised something, if you say the homepage name for Sol: Eclipse a bit quickly in a nice broad Yorkshire accent it sounds a bit ripe!

Aside from a slight laugh at the scientific "basis" for the story (which I do hope they do a reasonably good job of justifying), its a new space shooter and one that looks intriguing at that. I'll save excitement until I get to see some real info on it, but it is promising, which is more than can be said for the rest of the genre as of late.

Well, we shouldn't have to wait too long to see if it's any good, I think it comes out in the autumn this year. I'm very intrigued though, perhaps less so now that I've had the science exploded by you lot. However I think we ought afford the developers a modicum of artistic licence in their storytelling, it would be a bit of a shame to be down on them for something as insignifcant as an exploding sun.

Yeah I see nothing hinting any inspiration from FreeSpace, Star Wars, or Wing Commander.
Actually show something like combat and people might become interested.
Hell, do something like what Voyager 2 did on the Battlezone 2 intro, turn into a ****ing gun and shoot at anti-satellite missiles being launched at it.

Until then this is about as interesting as the X-Rebirth trailer, "Look at me I look pretty."

I didn't quite mean it that literally, but I agree that even then this trailer doesn't showcase any outstanding visuals, best thing probably being the background, but we can make skyboxes that look that good.

Then again, it might be best this way, lest you want to lead everyone to epic disappointment like the Nexus 2 trailer did. Looked all sorts of crazy-awesome, then it flopped.
