If only the Boanerges primary gun positioning was a little bit better, I would consider flying it over the Artemis. Now, no contest.

Compared to the Artemis's   It's near impossible to hit anything with those wide spaced guns, except on lower difficulties...

Ooh, how I dislike the gun placement of the Boanerges. It always shoots UPWARDS. At least the Artemis' guns shoot forward, which is a consolation.

The people who designed the Boanerges ought to try flying it themselves.

All they had to do was get the gun placement of the Boanerges right, and I might use it over the Ursa simply because it's the only bomber that can hold 7 Cyclops torpedoes in each bank and support the UD-8 Kayser.

The thing I always liked about the Boanerges over the Ursa was its smaller target profile.  The Ursa is HUGE compared to the Boanerges, and so takes a lot of fire, especially from flak.

I've been playing through the game on Insane, and 'Slaying Ravana' was an absolute nightmare in an Ursa. People say the Ravana has poor anti-fighter coverage, but when you're in an Ursa, a single flak gun can rip you apart in a few seconds.

It has been mentioned before that the Boanerges makes a good rammer, though. I did it once, and the feeling was great.

I've had the same experience on Easy.  Ursa + Flak = Death   Of course, I suck

Right, but most of the time I can handle flak with a good combination of burners and mashing 'Q'.

It's interesting to note that both bombers have the same amount of shields.

Whenever I fly the Boanerges, my first thought is, "Ohh dear, I'm going to die." and then my next thought (upon seeing a Shivan) is, "I'M GOING TO RAPE YOU!"

If I fly a Boanerges for too long, I eventually get over the gun issue and can fly it relatively well.

When I get Freespace and the MediaVPs reinstalled, I'm going to snap an LRed onto an Orion. I'll take a picture for you guys. Wait, can I do that? Swap the LGreen on an Orion for a LRed/BFRed?

Add hardpoints? I thought you just wanted to change the turret's weapon, which can be done in FRED.

I remember one time I used the placeholder Orion/SDF-1 and changed every weapon to "Macross Cannons". When the damn thing fired you couldn't even take a screenshot anywhere near it cause it was so sick and bright! That's why I don't have one... lol Was too lay back then to place it like 20km away more to do it.

That main gun from Mecross is one of the biggest and most overpowered weapons I've seen. It's even a weapon in Tyrian 2000.
