Re: A celebration of Freespace
Pretty.

Is this post-processing thing going to go into the main SCP thing?

Hery said that yes, but not soon. It must be optimized first AFAIK.

Post processing is good and all, but what about some good old fashioned antialiasing? :nervous:

My point was that I'm surprised that some people still don't have it turned on.

There's no option for anti-aliasing on OS X Launcher.

OSX is the exception, since there is no way to enable antialiasing.  Though maybe that could change if this got a little more attention...

No it isn't. It's a GPU hog, but if you have anything past GeForce 6 series GPU, you should be able to use about 4xAA, which already improves quality significantly in my opinion.
There are three things that last forever: Abort, Retry, Fail - and the greatest of these is Fail.

I might be mistaken but OpenGL stack in fs2_open doesn't seem make full use of GPU processing and instead uses CPU more heavily than it should.

For me and my system, the marginal gain in quality is not worth the drop in performance.

I didn't think there was any support in the engine for AA at all... I thought it was all controlled by driver settings these days.

Understandable, though TBH I don't have the greatest system and 4xAA barely impacts performance.

It doesn't.  That is one of the reasons why Mac users have had no antialiasing options in the past.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Just went through the main FreeSpace 2 campaign, I managed to increase my kill count to 662 (About 150 more kills) by using a bank of Tempests on every mission. Looking at my statistics, I found something very bizzare.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Well, of course. If you hit the Sath in the mission after bearbaiting, you will get the kill, since beam kills don't count.
