Re: A celebration of Freespace
No, it doesn't. A cruiser is almost never a command ship in a large navy; it does not have the sort of central role an FS universe destroyer has. Until the end of WWII, battleships were the flagships of major world navies, until they were usurped by carriers. An FS destroyer combines both carrier and battleship into one vessel. There really is no real-life equivalent to crazy one-off projects like the Hades or Colossus except for some of the Third Reich's wacky "wunderwaffen" ideas, and the Shivans have such a massive industrial advantage over the GTVA that there's no real point of comparison for them. They can pretty much build anything they want in whatever quantity they want.

Anyway, less argument, more pictures. I just decided on a new model for the Raiden, since the Scooby Doo model I was using was ridiculously large. Once I run its bump map through Crazybump to make a normal map it will probably look even better:

Solar fleet from my post-Capella mod:

SRF Kintaro multirole fighter

SRF Benkei space superiority fighter

SRF Anan heavy assault fighter

SRF Oni interceptor

SRF Tengu light fighter

Iki-Ryo-class cruiser

Inari-class carrier

Ryujin-class destroyer

There are some more that aren't shown; I'll put those up once I find/make some shinemaps for the Amaterasu texture set that don't have wonky environment maps.

Can't recall any missions with that color nebula so I'm not sure what that is either.

Thanks, I'm going to give it a try.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
You have no idea what you're talking about. There are corvettes around the same size as the Iceni (the Raiden and Apep classes). FreeSpace ship classes are rather variable--compare the Cain to the Mentu or the Sobek to the Deimos. Also, the model is named corvette2r-01, and the only other "frigate" in the entire game is closer in size to a cruiser than the Iceni. There's no need to pull a new class of ship out of nowhere for the Iceni.
Apparently you don't know what I'm talking about. You listed two corvette designs that are non-canon, while my comparison is based on canon ships.

The rest of the Solar fleet:

SRF Shinigami stealth fighter. Annoying little bastards.

SRB Kijo medium bomber

SRB Kirin assault bomber

Dainichi-class cruiser

Amida-class destroyer

Yamato-class installation

I was comparing the Iceni to other corvettes in the same mod to show that in 2395, it makes perfect sense as a corvette, and isn't really anything special. Mods are non-canon by definition, and guess what the 2395 fleet falls under? Stop being dense.

With the exception of the addition of the Post-Processing and bloom tags those settings are just Herra Tohtori's light settings with a higher ambient factor.

Yamato Installation is epic.
