STX Exploration's Laurium Mining Facility in Laramis, circa 2341 (Alpha version. . .).  Station model by Trashman, WiH shaders/lighting and a big  :pimp: to this thread for the background.  Custom settings, but the skybox was made with that program.  If you hate my 15 minute hackjob background (wouldn't blame you), then go play with it yourself!

Agreed, I quite like the look of that and wouldn't mind seeing the portion of the mission for the background on it.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
There are actually no blue nebulae in the mission, just that blue sun and a slightly blue-bumped ambient lighting setting in FRED.  The background was created with that program I linked to, basically a procedurally generated skybox.

here is a copy of the skybox used, or a version fairly close to it. That was actually my first "real" attempt at creating an original skybox using the program. The sun is just the blue sun from the mediavps.  The premise is that the star (Laramis) is very young, and the solar nebula hasn't quite cleared to create a "finished" star system - just a few small, rocky planets.  Thus, there's a lot of dust and debris floating around, perfect for mining.  I mostly put this up to pimp the program I linked to, because it's VERY easy to create decent looking nebulae using it (more work = better result, obviously).

Working on a mini-campaign that takes place in 2341, Luyten New Alliance and Provisional GTA in Delta Serpentis fighting over the system for mining rights.

EDIT: An idea I had...same star system, supposed to be the RNI Shipyards orbiting Laramis II.  Yay for skyboxes showing in full nebulae. The planet in the background is by rscaper1070.  It's being used as a placeholder right now (although I DO really like it).
This is just with stock nebula poofs. It's 4:00 AM here, so I'll try to make a custom "foggier" one later.

Sorry to spoil the entertainment caused by your heavenly picture, but for me...

...there is nothing more intriguing than to watch a duel between a cruiser-sized Sathanas and a GTC Leviathan.

With the rapid increase of FS fan-made campaigns, we're giving the GTVA a harder time with more violence and genocide.

Also, hooray for Reconstruction-era campaigns!

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Looks like the scale function in the new PCS 2.1 is getting pretty popular.

Now all we need is a cruiser sized GTDr Amazon taking on a bomber size Sath in JAD n+1...

Heh. The Sath as a bomber-sized ship looks more like a 50 turret gunship than anything else, come to think of it.

Me chasing the Sath:
