Test concluded, thanks to everyone who participated.
It's late March and spring is here (or fall for the down under), so how bout we organise a test for this coming weekend on March 25th 26th or 27th? Just like the first two multiplayer tests, you can show interest by posting a reply here, or sending me a PM. Perhaps if enough non-euros are interested, we can look for a time that's more suitable for other regions.
Last two times we got a pretty large turnout which easily filled a game with 12 players for a few hours. This time, I would like to arrange multiple hosts to be able to run multiple games at the same time so we can do more than just dogfighting. Many of the missions have a maximum of 8 players, and some have a maximum of 4.
If you are interested, please include the time you would prefer to have the test take place. If you have any other questions with what you need to get BP:Multi up and running, or anything else just ask. I'll update the list as needed.

I'm in...at least I'm interested.
Donno about my schedule though...we'll see.
-
Interested too, flyable Deimos-Corvettes, really nice.
-
My nick should make it obvious that I'm damn interested in this! :p
-
duuuuuude count me in!
-
Any preferred times?
-
Might make it, got some pretty unpleasant RL things shortly after those dates, not sure how tensed or out of it I am.
-
I'll try and show up.
-
Unless something comes up, I can probably make it regardless of which day you pick. Good week for me this time :)
-
100% in. Haven't got any preferred times, seeing as how I'm one of those evil, demented Euros. :)
-
I was actually thinking of Saturday morning March 26th at 1:00PM GMT. That's 8:00AM North American Eastern time. Would that encourage anyone from the FAR east to join? Kind of an early start for the Americans, but I'll do it.
Anyone interested who does not like that time?
Use this map to determine your time with respect to GMT.

It might work, depending on how long the games lasts. Might sleep through the whole thing. I can't have it too late either 'cause I have to take a Greyhound back to school that day. I'll set an alarm.
-
1:00 PM GMT is...6:00AM my time.
There's no chance in hell I can wake up that early D:
(And even if I could I'd play like I was stoned)
-
1 P.M. GMT would be 5 A.M. my time. There's no way I could make that.
-
7AM huh? well its a Saturday so i guess i'll set an alarm or stay up through the night, i'm in assumeing nothing else comes up
-
I don't think there's any need to have sleepy yanks. Move it to 19:00 GMT, it's a convenient time for the Euros and it works out as roughly the same time for US as it was going to be for Europe in the first place.
-
Yes, I think that 1:00 pm GMT might not work. But 19:00 GMT soundz good.

I wanted to give a chance for the Australian and East Asian gamers to participate in the test since both previous tests have been at unusual times for that region, but since there has been more opposition than approval of the time, I no longer think it's a workable one.
Saturday March 26th 19:00 GMT is 2:00PM Northamerican Eastern time. Would you all prefer this time then?
-
11 A.M. my time for Saturday or Sunday can be done, but not for this Friday as I have a doctor's appointment at 11:30.
-
Test time announced, hope you all can make it. See original post.
Edit: Typo...
-
I'm really sorry bit I am prevented to join the multi test because I'll go to the birthday party of a friend.
Anyway, good luck and good shootin' out there^^
-
Also unable to take part, got a mate coming to stay for the night. Wish you all the best and have fun!

Good test earlier today. I uploaded some videos of the action.
Note: sorry about the quality. Premere Elements really cuts down on the quality of video made by FRAPS. If I figure out a way to increase the quaity, I'll re-upload. Go full screen.

I've had good experiences with using VirtualDub to encode Fraps video. You'd need to install codecs too though, if you haven't done that already for Premiere Elements.
-
Observations from participating in the Fleet Battle (TvT).
- Karunas thrash Deimos, its like they're an order of magnitude more durable (probably because of insufficient PD on the Deimos)
- Sanctus make great meatshields seeing as they're small, and fast, meaning slash beams tend to miss wildly
- Deimos can't actually aim. Their beam turrets have two large a FoV, meaning they'll target whatever the hell they want (usu. sanctus)
Possible fixes:
- Add one of the nextgen corvettes for the GTVA, either the Chimera or the Diomedes - with better PD and more durability, might even the odds
- Get Spells working. (More on this later)
- Buff Deimos PD
Spells:
As of now, no ship has any "spells" short of their ETS system, but there are a number of issues preventing (re-)implementation of spells into the TvT. (Also see above post).
- The UI. Must be HUD-Gauge based, and unique to ship classes instead of based on training messages.
- key-pressed. Needs to have an optional argument of who (or which ship) pressed the key, don't know if possible.
- Stuff to make certain spells work...
It opens a whole new can of worms entirely in terms of balance, but at least we get more variables to mess around with!

I did it in a zeus too! Go me!

Post-Multi Test #3
In bp2-mc02.fs2 "Corvette Strike", the game is too easy. Once closed in, the Sanctus and Narayanas are helpless. Recommend replacing some Sanctus with Karunas. The Narayanas are the only threat, and even then, they die once you get in range.
-
should have a Solaris at the end IMO.

The mission was initially made as more of a fun demo than an actual mission. It does need an update though. If people like capship coops, I can aim to make more of them.

This video makes me think of 3 unrelated comments:
Your hud looks cool.
Xfire seems like a better option than fraps+premiere and it's free no?
The part where you assault the Shivan wing in their own dockingbay made me laugh somewhat uncontrollably for a few seconds. Not sure why.

Yup, Xfire is free and the video capture thingy works quite nicely, as long as you know how to make it work nicely. You need a couple of workarounds to get it to detect FSO (it's still working only for retail and .10 by default, they're a bit late) and the capture tend to desync audio and video more often than not, but you can find some video editors to fix that.
