Re: All my articles go here
Hi all!

Exactly 12 months ago today I wrote an article about emulation. In it, I predicted that Nintendo’s aggressive pursuit of ROM sites would either end emulation or make it far more difficult and risky - at least for the ‘downloading ROMs and running them via an emulator’ form of emulation – since there are other methods.

Many people said I was wrong and that emulation would continue. With the benefit of hindsight, I can confirm that they were right, and I was wrong - and never have I been happier to be wrong about something. 😊 To celebrate this, I have split the article in-two and rewrote it to account for subsequent events. Therefore, I bring you “Emulating Retro Games – Past Present and Future: Part One and Two.

Enjoy 😊

Re: All my articles go here
Once again, great work! Have you ever written articles about jRPGs? That's a genre all on its own.  :)

Thank you :-)

Re JRPGs, not yet. I tend to avoid writing about subjects I do not know much about unless I have to. I have only ever played three JRPGs - FFs 7, X and X2, and TBH, the only one I actually liked was 7. Therefore I don't know enough about them to do them justice. Secondly, since I'm not a a fan of the genre, or anime style things in general, I wouldn't be able to objectively state what makes a good JRPG and what doesn't, since they are all a bit of a turn off for me. Same with sports games, 3rd person hack n slash, MOBAs, and MMORPGs.

Re: All my articles go here
Hi everyone!

Phew, we made it! I have just posted the 18th and final (for now anyway) episode in the Influential FPS Games series on Nomad’s Reviews. We finish with a look at Far Cry.
https://www.nomadsreviews.co.uk/post/influential-fps-games-18-far-cry-the-first-mainstream-semi-open-world-fps

This thread almost went necro due to my being too busy with other projects - SerRes in particular - to create articles. I have several more in the pipeline which should be released over the next few weeks :-)

Great to read your thoughts - your articles are very well-written!

I agree with all of your points on this article series. Mid-mission resupply/refit is less common than it should be - Star Wars: Squadrons is a relatively good example of this working well, imho. Also the 6-degrees and glide need to be more utilized for sure! And megastructures... I remember having a blast in XW:A on the Death Star II, even if it took me many, many tries.

One other thing that I really loved about FS2 was being part of capital ship vs. capital ship battles as a small ship. The capship beams are unique in making me feel a strong sense of anxiety at getting in the way, but also some clear targets to change the tide of battle. For me it's the only game where capship vs. capship battles are truly alive :D
