Title: Cheow Keng
Post by: the.raven on April 25, 2015, 08:27:00 pm
I thought the name sounded funny, I asked my Singaporean friends and they said it means to pretend to be unwell to avoid responsibilities, usually in a military context. kinda a bad name for a commander o_O

I suspect Nagari influence. Threat Two has compromised the BP team. Activate MORPHEUS immediately.

FYI the British army  slang word for a soldier being lazy or selfish and shunning is....  Jack!  As in, " he is being jack",  "coops, get your #### together you jack b###ard"  etc.

From the stang "jack Jones"  -  own/alone, meaning  being out for ones self.

FYI in Football (Soccer to our transatlantic cousins hehe), Jacks are what people from Swansea are known as and fans from Cardiff will chant, "You Jack b***ard!"

The term came from a famous story of a dog called Jack who pulled someone out of the sea who was drowning. A pub on Oystermouth Road was then named the "Swansea Jack" to commemorate the actions of the dog and became part of Swansea's heritage and was the pub frequented by Swansea AFC fans, when the team use to play at the Vetch Field, on match days.
