Bit of a shocker seeing Bungie state clearly there will be NO Halo 4, and then suddenly a few years later it's like, oh BTW, Halo 4, get on it.
And not only that, but they have revealed that Halo 4 marks the start of a trilogy. Seriously, what the hell? Feels like 5 years ago there was such a huge demand for Halo 4 and Bungie said time and time again, "No."
Well seeing as now another 3 Halo games are on the way, not to mention the probable new books to go with them how does everyone feel the story is going to continue? And more importantly, will these new chapters be incorporated in FS:H?
Just curious as to what everyone's opinions are. I imagine seeing as Chief was stranded at the end of Halo 3, it would open with space combat of some sort, and if space combat plays a large part in the new trilogy, it might be cool having a FS:H campaign that runs parallel to Halo's 4-6.

Just an obvious info for the guys out of the loop by a few light years : Bungie isn't the one making Halo 4. 343 Industries is. So, Bungie was entirely saying the truth when they said they'd never do a Halo 4.
Randomly, shouldn't that be in Gaming discussion instead ? This isn't exactly related to this mod.

Yeah, Bungie isn't making Halo 4. (Probably for the better...)

Now that I was not aware of. When I heard they were making a Halo 4 it sounded to me like they were trying to milk the franchise, so I didn't really give it much attention. Randomly surfing HLP and checking out how FS:H was moving along randomly jolted my memory, so I figured I may as well make a thread on it.

Reason why I bought it up was to spark speculation on the space combat portrayed in the upcoming game, and how this can be implemented into the mod. Sorry, I should have been more specific.
Since FS:H has been making progress slowly, it seems that the Halo universe and Halo storyline is growing and leaving FS:H behind, and one of the things I was especially curious about was if FS:H was going to be finished how originally intended by Dev, or if what the original plan was would be expanded to incorporate whatever the new content ends up being.

It happened a few years ago now that the IP rights started shifting around, I think Bungie was happy to let the series because it had hit a point they felt they could do nothing more useful for the franchise and looking at the response from some quarters I can understand why they hold that opinion. Microsoft on the other hand being the massive financial jugablob that it is wants moar money and Halo is a good way to milk money from their console divisions so have found a lackey willing to do Halo 4 and onwards thus guaranteeing interest for the next few years and a few million in profits once the game hits the market.

I want to play Reach 2........

The introduction of Halo 4 into the mix has no bearing on the first two chapters planned, as they deal with the time frame before and during the original trilogy. That is assuming they don't jump the shark and add some time travel component
To be honest, there are two things that have had any significant impact: Reach and Glasslands. Reach retcon'd the events that occurred there and basically made the book The Fall of Reach half useless. Glasslands details a lot of things in the immediate aftermath, which alters how much I could do with Chapter 3. Nothing game-breaking and honestly takes a weight off since I can use the battles detailed within the book instead of having to come up with it myself.
Mix of blessings and curses, I suppose!
But no, Halo 4 should not alter the mod at all :)

so what direction might halo 4 take in that case? might it detail contacts with the flood?

my bet is on exploring the forerunners and precursors as will as the post-halo 3 era
