Title: Location of FS2 Backlground "space" sound
Post by: HLD_Prophecy on March 14, 2019, 08:59:33 pm
Hey all!

Looking for the precise location of the environmental ambience sound file for FS2. To be clear, I'm not talking about any music, battle track, what have you - I'm looking for the "white noise" that plays in the environment.

Looking through the root folder with Maja. Found sound_env in the tables section of data. I assume it's running off a .wav file so Ill keep looking for it.

I am genuinely not sure if this exists. Maybe I'm being a dumb dumb but aren't all the 'ambient' noises emitted by ships?

Just did a quick test. I couldn't hear any sound after I turned my engines off.

There is no ambient sound aside from inside Subspace that is not emitted by ships, debris or asteroids. If there is, there is no sound file for it last time I checked.

The "ambient" noise should just be ship engines.

Wow. I think I always subconciously assumed that there was an incessant low "whooshing" sound in space. Just the engines, I guess, lol. Thanks guys!  :)
