Docked with the NTC Alexandria?

In "As Lightning Fall", it's stated that the NTT Grall came into the nebula docked with the NTC Alexandria, which we found out Snipes had been transferred to in Lt. Cmdr. Jack Niven's briefing in "...But Hate the Traitor", and we later hear that the Alexandria had jumped through just before "Endgame" ... but I noticed something about this which seemed kind of odd.



Note how big the Argo is compared to those cruisers. I threw in the Elysium to give it a sense of scale.

Just to see what it'd look like, I went ahead and tried all of the docking arrangements. There are two distinct cruiser models (treating Fenris and Leviathan as the same), each with two dockpoints, and the Argo has two dockpoints as well. While doing this I noticed that the Aeolus' second dock point is called "Orestes dock" -- was that a working name [e.g. 'crossbow' or 'sidearm'] for the Aeolus, or some transport (like the Argo), or what?

Here are the results, on a nice mission backdrop I made for the RTS mod, whenever it gets up and running again.



And, since I'm talking about the transports in that mission, I might as well ask: what's up with Snipes telling me to call in the transport when ready right AFTER I called it in?

So yeah, that seems kind of odd.

Well that looks kinda weird, but its gotta dock somehow right? Or are ships of equivalent size not supposed to be able to dock with each other?

Well that's the main thing I thought was weird. The docking arrangements thing was an afterthought, really.

The Argo that's stuck over the top of the Aeolus (not the one sticking on with it's nose) looks kind of feasible, but the others are just odd. :nod: My two cents.

The bottom-right one, or the second one from the right in the top row, would be how it was attached IMO.
That way, the Argo's engines could help out too, and it doesn't look so odd.

At least it looks presentable... :rolleyes:

I tend to think of the Alexandria as a Fenris cruiser, so showing the Aeolus and reminding me that the Alexandria could also be an Aeolus is like a slap to my face. :wakka:

Let's see...if I were to number them 1 to 8 from top-left to bottom-right, 3 and 8 look like the most logical. From how I see it, the rest are meant for short-term docks, "short-term" meaning "less than fifteen minutes".

Yeah, I agree. 3 and 8 are the most reasonable looking. Oddly, the two dockpoints on the Aeolus are really close together (so the Aeolus docking arrangements look similar).

Also, someone mentioned in another thread that there's a model that's a Deimos with an argo welded on and acting as a fighterbay (or somesuch)...

If an argo could be a fighterbay, why not give a fighterbay to an Aeolus  ;7

He seems to be implying that you are the one who made an Argo with a fighterbay cut into it, which was either welded onto (i.e. single mesh) or docked with a Deimos. If so, it'd be nice to have it on freespacemods.net

I did one years ago in TS (my second or third "project"). Haven't seen it for years but it's probably **** (full of UV errors etc).
Can't remember who it was for.

I couldn't model a cube if my life depended on it, so he was barking up the wrong tree if he thought I made it. :p Maybe he thinks/knows I have a particular campaign that uses it lying around, but I wouldn't know which one.
