Couldn't be more true.
Incidently, why not buy a Zero Punctuation t-shirt?
I like the "Press X to not die" one, personally. :P
-
To be fair, the movie does have the appearance (based on trailers) of being awful.
-
I thought that but the actual reviews have been pretty good.

As Kara said, the reviews have been excellent. Check out rottentomatoes.
Did you watch the Onion clip at all? The humor revolves around the fact that the movie is quite good.
-
And thus a severe departure from at least half of all Star Trek Movies ever made...
It's actually strange to feel excited about this one. Haven't felt that way about a Star Trek flick since ST VI.
-
Is Star Trek the one with the big glowy circle thing?
-

No that's Stargate SG.1 or Stargate Atlantis.
-
no, its the one with sexy aliens.
-
haha "Prison Economy Spirals As Price Of Pack Of Cigarettes Exceeds Two Hand Jobs" Gotta love the Onion.
-
i like how the movie comes out right after i move to a town that doesnt even have a movie theater.
-
It's certainly the first ST Movie I've actually had my interested piqued in for a long time, may well go and see that, if I can talk Sharon into it, she's not a big Sci-Fi fan, so hopefully this will be a good place to start the conversion ;)
-
no, its the one with sexy aliens.
That's the one with the telephone booth. Mr. What, right?

Naa its some Doctor guy....can never remember his name....who was he?
-
Your thinking of House with Hugh Laurie. By the way wasn't he in some historical comedy named um... the Black Mamba or some such?
-
Black-Adder, with Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson.
Very funny at first, but went on for a season too long imho.
-
urdoinitwrong
-
He was also in this really funny show about a rich buffoon and his butler... Giles and Rooster?
-
Yes, because the world has so few stupid people that it really needs people to pretend....
-
Sorry, I just really wanted to use that one. As penance, I'll comment on the original thread topic:
I've realized that J.J. Abrams making a Star Trek movie is beyond my wildest hopes and dreams for the franchise. He's the only way a watchable Star Trek movie could've been made-- a fun, mainstream director who doesn't know **** about Star Trek.
-
yea get back on topic or bring forth total nukage
^how ww3 gets started
-

Mine too.
I've got a graduation ceremony Thursday morning, but almost immediately afterwards my entire immediate family is going to go camp out in the nearest movie theater until the midnight showing starts. We'll be probably getting there at around 3 in the afternoon. :D

You sir are no longer fit to be British.
Please turn in your esoteric humor and tea cup.
-
Bollocks, if I wasn't complaining about something, then I wouldn't be English...
It's Europes second-favourite past-time, after dreaming up stereotypes about everyone else in Europe ;)

You didn't like Blackadder Goes Forth????
-
I'd watched the three previous series, it was kind of like Red Dwarf, hilarious at first, and then they kept trying to expand the cast, which made it all go horribly wrong...
-
But they had the same actors in different roles. Exactly the same as in the previous series.
-
They kept throwing third-party actors into the mix, or giving bit-part actors larger roles, such as 'Bob the Girl' etc, it wasn't unfunny, but a lot of it I'd seen before in various formats in earlier series of BlackAdder, about the only part of the series I genuinely got a laugh out of was Adders' communication with the RAF, which went along the lines of 'Where are you, you bastards?' and his telegram to Charlie Chaplin which read 'Please, please, please. STOP'.

Hear the words I sing, war's a horrid thing
So I sing sing sing
Ding-a-linga-ling
-
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom,
Boom, Boom, Boom,
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom,
Boom, Boom, Boom
The only bad thing about blackadder is they didn't make more of it. Every episode was an instant classic for me. Of course, Flipside has the right to think otherwise - one of the flaws of democracy is that it allows people to be so very wrong :D
-
Not to mention that you could sit down a panel of historians for 5 years to explain the causes of the First World War and you still wouldn't get a better one than the one Blackadder gave (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAh3Mb3Z9SM). :)

And more recently; Zachary Quinto is the only thing making the whole thing rise above average.

All previous Movies recapped, using haikus. (http://blogs.amctv.com/scifi-scanner/2009/05/star-trek-movie-plots.php)

And more recently; Zachary Quinto is the only thing making the whole thing rise above average.
Its still crazy that he's Sylar.
That's like, the least spockish character ever.

Post deleted for being incredible immature and stupid - Flipside.
-
Okay, that's a bit much.
-
Hey, iamzack, advice:
Don't.
Allow me to elaborate that:
Unless you have something constructive or decent to post, don't bother posting in this thread again.
-
all i can hear is nerd nerd nerd nerd nerd nerd nerd nerd girls kissing nerd nerd nerd
The fact you're hearing things on an internet forum would scare me if I cared about your wellbeing.
-
Since zack isn't posting in here anymore it seems, then it's not really fair to bash her either. Drop it and get back on topic please.
-
Especially since she actually said Hi instead of flaming me when I showed up on IRC, fair 'nuf
-
Getting back on topic: I'd totally poke Bree Lindsay. First in the butt, then flip her over. Shake n' bake.
-
Shake 'n Bake. I like your style :)
-
saw the movie, it was good.
nuff said.
-
1) The film was excellent;
2) Hugh Laurrie and Stephen Fry were in Jeeves and Wooster;
3) Blackadder Goes Forth was the best of all the series, with the sharpest wit honed for the series' historical poignancy and accuracy. If people don't find it equally hilarious, scary and sad, then they either not attentive enough or smart enough. This was the sharpest sitcom satire ever written.
-
Actually, people are fully entitled to their own opinions on a series, regardless of whether you like it or not, any more accusing people of not being 'smart' or 'attentive' purely for forming an opinion different to yours and I'll consider it trolling.
-
Finally saw it, now I know what you guys mean by alternate universe.
Guess the old one was going nowhere... =/
Ah well, hope to see more.
-
Saw it, liked it
-
I saw it today and liked it.
Slightly off-topic but I don't think it deserves it's own thread:
Did anyone else notice some similarities between the Romulan ship coming out of the gravity field and the FS1 into cut scene?
-
The feeling of impending doom.... yes they are similar in that case.
As for ship design, they don't look anything alike.
-
If subspace was black and lightningey, then yes.
