Battleships Forever (http://www.wyrdysm.com/games.php) is a top down strategy game involving battleships. And at least one person was porting a good deal of the cruisers, corvettes (i have no idea about fighters), and a few destroyers from fs2 to this indie game. This is old stuff. (http://www.wyrdysm.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=2134) Perhaps some of you know about it already.
Here's a few screens for an example.

Old stuff, hopefully downloadable and able to be messed around with. Figured people might find this interesting.
The orion was ported. The porter was thinking about porting the sathanas and colossus (i don't think they did...who knows, i just found this stuff).

It wasn't a mod. It was a guy recreating the ships from FS2 using the game's ship maker. Battleships Forever is also very old and kind of temperamental, stability wise.

Ah, sweet! I loved BS4E.

Nonsense.
BSF was perfectly stable.
It just lagged. Horribly. Whenever you had a big custom ship (not with these)

That game is still up for download? Went to the original site, but found nothing.

People on the BSF forums would disagree.

People on the forums from what i did read, tended to note that juggernaut sized ships with a lot of pieces were what made the game load slow, and perform slow (reason for the unfortunate disinterest in juggernauts they had). Anything else is news to me.

Alrighty then :p BSF FS2 ship pack :)

Funny that. I am from there.
It's where I found out about FreeSpace.
It was pretty much perfectly stable in its base form.
It's just the scale of creations people made was out of the scope of what the engine (based on gamemaker) could really handle. I don't ever recall it crashing/failing to run/spitting out all too many errors with the base game. Sure you could really break things with custom ships, but I put that more on ****ty or overambitious custom shipbuilding than anything else.

Where are the destroyers located?

I loved BS4E. *goes to download it again*

Just re-downloaded BS4E (link in OP still works). Works decent on Windows 10, if anyone hasn't tried the base game yet, give it a shot.
