Republic Commando is always surprising me, like Halo, there are so many lines for your fellow soliders, you will always hear some new ones.Easily my all-time favorite game. I was devastated when I lost my CDs. :(
You have to kill Anna, though not necessarily at the subway station. Let her kill you to trigger something a little different.

I did it in the 747.
I've managed to keep Paul alive several times but I'm not sure what triggers that. I once managed to clear the hallway of troops and he'd walk out there with me and say something about Jock picking him up in Battery Park (or something like that), but the lobby was saturated with troops. The prison cell bit that follows is awesome and it was scary for the first few moments (I think it was the music and that "where the heck am I?" feeling). Definitely one of the best bits in any game I've played.
Watching combat between your troops and NSF guys can sometimes be quite funny.
Isn't it cool when games can still throw up the odd surprise, even after years and countless play throughs. Like Halo, I always pick-up on Marine & Covenant random dialogue I could swear I'd not heard before.
It's Deus Ex that inspired this thread, though. I usually play either as a total pasacifist or a total lunatic who kills everything he sees. Hostages especially.

I keep thinking about coming back to Deus Ex, there's a couple of (IMO) impressive mods out there too that I haven't finished yet (Redsun 2020 and Deus Ex Zodiac - no speech in those though).
Heh, I would screw around and throw stuff at Manderley's head. I'm gonna try stacking up some soda cans on it.
the only one that come to mind is fs2 "dive dive dive, hit your burners pilot!" it still surprised me even by today.

IIRC wether paul lives or dies depends if you exit via the window or through the front door of the 'ton ie; either abandon or help him.
show me where! :)

Baldurs Gate 2...
yeah. I still wish sb (Bioware themselves) would make a full Trilogy Remake, updating the weak BG1. Yeah, I know of the BGtutu, the NPC banter pack and so on but BG1 still remains weak, especially regarding your choices or the lack of.
Much as I'm impressed with the amount of character choices and how you can play the game multiple times with each playthrough being different, what surprised me the most about BG II is that the designer who thought it would be good game design to constantly railroad the player wasn't simply booted out of the door after the 3rd time he suggested "Let's have an enemy turn up, say something and then kidnap a member of the player's party before he can do anything"
For me there is one: Falcon 4 Allied Force.
I don't really get it how much they have managed to stuff in there. Having played it for three years it still feels like you have experienced only about 30 % of it.
Yes it has it's bad moments, but in overall it is still unsurpassed with the most complex dynamic campaign and flying model I have seen.
Mika
A full clip from an assualt rifle (on easy) usually finishes her off.
Try tossing an EMP grenade in the corner. She should run for the exit, allowing you to take her out without any risk to the hostage.
I've played through DX on its most difficult level (which honestly isn't that difficult) probably a dozen times and I *think* I've now found just about every little secret in terms of plot/dialogue that the game has tucked away.
I never bother with Anna's killswitch - it's much more satisfying to blow her to pieces and save Lebedev. A 20mm rifle grenade does the trick nicely. That said, it is possible to go through the game without killing either of them (Navarre kills Lebedev, and you simply sprint past Navarre every time she shows up).
You might be interested in this, if you already own Razorwork's Enemy Engaged series (Apache Havoc and Comanche Hokum). In the latest release you get to fly the Mi24V with pilot's cockpit. You need to check if your graphics card will be able to run it as it has issues with newer cards. I've been playing EECH on and off for years but I never get very far.
I've dwelt on purchasing Allied Force, I saw it going for cheap in a local games shop recently. But I doubt I have the time available to sink the hours of practice needed into it to start really enjoying it.
....And for me Deus Ex would never be the same(not hilarious) after i discovered the anti walkthrough. http://www.it-he.org/
Battlecruiser Millenium.
There's a huge universe to explore, fight, always something new to do or in some new way. (I've more-or-less mastered air-raiding a planetary base at this point, I fear.)
But more than that, there's always something new to glitch, and this is at least half the fun. The only other game that I own that even comes close to being as fun to screw around with and try to play wrong is Outpost, and BC:M is vastly better for this sort of thing. I could write a hundred pages on how to reproduce and benefit from BC:M's bugs if I wanted to, but I don't. About the only thing that still eludes me is getting the game to fire pulsed laser beams out of the monitor.

If you ever get Allied Force, feel free to contact me about it any time.

Hades, then take a look at BGII.
Harpoon Classic, partly because of the randomizer, and partly because, again, the computer is not stupid and will not hesitate to remind you of this. I've played the "Fortress Keflvik" scenario from the original GIUK battleset many times, it's one of my favorites (something about coordinated airstrikes by 20+ P3s amuses me), but I still can't reliably save the poor Fife from that Victor 3.
Hey I discovered how to save Jock from the bomb planted by the "odd mechanic" :)What?! How!?
Total Anhillation. Because it runs on Vista without fuss, but kicks up a major fuss on my old XP. :p
No, seriously, I found a big bunch of mods for it. Not to mention new units.
I passed the game 14 times.

Sorry mate, only got TA. The major TA site is falling into disrepair, and their Kingdoms' section got suspended. But for regular TA stuff, Unit Universe (http://www.unituniverse.com/) works fine.Total Anhillation. Because it runs on Vista without fuss, but kicks up a major fuss on my old XP. :p

Are you refering to the whole TA series? I'm a die hard fan of Total Annihilation: Kingdoms and I'm desperately looking for mods. I had so many of them but the fact that all of the three computers I've been playing TA:K died more than once in the past 5-6 years removed all mods.
The last time I looked for mods, a few months ago, I couldn't find any of them. Can you point me out to a good site?

my God (which is the FSM of course), who old are you know? 128?
