Dear all

I have tried the tech thread and there doesn't seem to be a solution. I get this error message:

I run on Windows, with WIH latest and a fresh FS2 install from gog.com.

This error occurs when I start WIH from the launcher. Vanilla FS2 runs fine.

I put WIH full install in my FS2 directory, but the media vps are floating loosse in the freespace2 folder, not in their own folder. Could this be the problem?

Probably is the issue. If placing them in mediavps_3612 doesn't fix it, please post a debug log, and we can repair things in a jiffy.

OK I just installed everything from scratch and I'm getting the same error, however my mediaVPs are where they supposed to be. Log file incoming.

I have 67 other errors popping up in debug mode like this. Seems it's all about missing LODs. Do you still need the log file? Something has changed in one of the installers, as this worked fine two weeks ago.

This happens to me with BP, BP2, and MediaVPs as mods selected. The only time this doesn't happen is when I select no mod.

Found Effects. They were missing because I missed that download. Thanks! And apologies for the noobish mistake.

 
So do I need to download the mediavps as well as the blue planet new installer? I thought blue planet installer was a one stop shop that I juast installed to my fresh install of fs2 vanilla.

Do you have the "Use 3D models for weapon selection" (and the ship one) option selected in the launcher?

 
Yes - I still get that error message. Any other thoughts?

It is a known bug, there is nothing you can do about it other than wait for an update. However, the reason you're getting the error in the first place is because you are running a debug build. A debug build is intended only for troubleshooting purposes, not for actual playing. Use the file called fs2_open_3_6_17_SSE2_BP.exe instead of fs2_open_3_6_17_DEBUG_SSE2_BP.exe.

 
The non-debug build doesn't start at all. Damn, was really looking forward to act 3. Thanks for your efforts all.
