Hopefully you will find it to be useful, and I hope we will see an increase in submitted content. At very least, I'm expecting to see stuff from madaboutgames following the set guidelines. :)

And please use this thread to notify the staff of content you want to have available for download in FileDomain.

This domain will cease to exist on November 1st. The site will no longer be updated and no new torrents will be added.

Not sure where else to get these files, I've already tried filesearching.com with no results.

Is madaboutgames going to submit his mod to the staff, and then they will host it on FileDomain?

Most likely, but his old files do not follow the guidelines. I'd encourage him to update his files first.

Bit of a side issue but somewhat relevant. Why did the team default to having TBP install to C:\Program Files\The Babylon Project thereby nullifying the ability to use mods easily without getting the "Directory name contains spaces" messages?

Any chance of changing this in 3.3? Cause if you get people to use the mod system things become much easier :)

I was not aware of such a stupid bug back then, in my opinion it should be fixed by the SCP team. x:\Program Files is standard default installation location of Win32 applications. And changing default installation directory now would make things complicated, there is no clean way of users retaining their pilot files and other custom files over to new install location. And force-copying old default installation location to new one is hardly a clean way.

Then again, it is no longer my turf to solve issues like these. If you seriusly think this should be changed by us and not by SCP, then you should bug Sigma957 and stithe2000.

From what I understand it's non-trivial to fix as the command line uses spaces to tell where one option ends and the next one begins.

Any chance of defaulting to C:\Games\TBP in 3.3? C:\Games is a fairly standard location too and by warning people not to include any spaces we could make it easier to use mods. :)

Quotation marks can be used in command prompt, links and shortcuts. As for changing default install location, I refer back to my previous post.

Agreed.  This is just a basic, and rather stupid, error in the source code.  That it causes a problem for TBP because of it's install location is unfortunate but not an issue that TBP should have to resolve.

There is no reason this can't be fixed by the SCP, except perhaps for lack of time and/or motivation.  The Linux and OS X versions do not suffer from this issue so it's simply a code problem on the Windows specific side.  The Linux and OS X versions also do not suffer from placement of the -mod option (ie. it can be specified anywhere in the cmdline, not just the end).  I personally don't like having two code sets to do this same thing and have wanted to clean up that code for a while now.  I'll try and find time to look at doing that this weekend.

The Launcher has a similar problem I beleive but that's RandomTiger's department so you'll have to go through him to get it fixed there.

Apart from tbp site, where is it????

A very early christmas pressie for you my fellow b5 fans.  The 22 mission demo of heat em up is now ready.  I am just inserting the intro and cut scenes.  Had problems with build 3.6.5, just downloaded latest build, this should sort problem, but going to need to test completed missions again to check for cpmpatabilty and AI bugs with new build.

The 22 mission demo will consist of :

Intro
6 tutorial missions at the Io Transfer Point
Presidential escort Ceremonial mission
Apollo attachment
B5 Attachment (includes Midnight on the firing line, believers, signs and portents etc.)

These are first 22 missions in the campaign, these start of quite easy and you mainly only have raiders to contend with.  Spent many an hour testing and have had great fun.  All B5 fans will be gob smacked!!

Full release of the game (due summer 2006) will be a wopping 122 missions.

Current status of Heat em up campaign
72 Missions complete
8 missions work in progress
All sound samples riiped upto season 5
14 Cut scenes complete.

Ian if you can e-mail me - [email protected]   I can send you the url to download the demo (online Sunday) the Official demo release is 16/12/05.

Trailer for Heat em up complete and will be online from Monday.  All files are now in vp so this should cut down on the lack of user errors in installation.

Long Live B5

What do you mean where is it? If you have the old address bookmarked, the address now has a redirect in place. Also, the link in my first post in this thread directs you to correct address, as well as the link in my signature.

Re: Guide to releasing unofficial TBP content
sorted, my previous link pointed to actionplanet. I have been offline for a bit and tried to find it over the last 2 weeks, LOL.  Last time I visited it it stated the site was down due to maintainence and backup.  the search in google also pointed out the same address.  Many other tbp fans and members may also have the same problem.

when are you planning to release 3.3?

http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/forums/ redirects to http://www.hard-light.net/forums/
http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hlp/hosted/babylon/ redirects to http://babylon.hard-light.net/

So everyone who has visited the old addresses in the past week, should have been redirected here.
Only if you have directly bookmarked the old TBP forums, you get an error.

Re: Guide to releasing unofficial TBP content
No probs, I think I did bookmark the forums so that would be why.
Just been going through the threads, been offline for a bit, Took a job in york 7 weeks ago and still not settled yet.  I would be very happy for you to give the B5 Heat em Up some publicity on your homepage.  The trailer I have just finished (2 actually) are great, and make sierra`s trailer look like a b** ** ***t.  This will be good publicity for The Babylon Project, The Source Code Project, and B5 Heat em up.  The first trailer will be released next Monday, and the second at the same time as the demo (16/12/05).  If you would like to view the trailer I can have it ready for download tomorrow.

Content which will be available for download.

B5 Heat Em Demo (22 mission campaign) - 400 mb Approx with cut scenes
Infestation (8 Mission Campaign) - 40 mb
Survivor  (updated 9 mission campaign) - 6mb

The campaign reflections will not be available for download any more as changes are being made to this in accordance with the b5 heat em up campaign. As well as the Severed Dreams Mission.

Any more questions please feel free to email me   [email protected]
My b5heatemup e-mail is not currently in use until I am online with broadband as soon as I can find a suitable house here in York.

Re: Guide to releasing unofficial TBP content
You might want to bug Sigma957 and stithe2000 via PM, you have released enough missions to deserve that much. If you are not yet aware, Sigma957 has been the project leader and stithe2000 the co-leader fo quite some time now.
