Title: looking to new games
Post by: Al Tarket on August 24, 2008, 09:50:23 am
what future releases will you looking out for and wanting to play and/or buy? and tell us what standout release you would be wanting us to look out for in the near future.

for me it has to be hl2:ep3, ra3, diablo 3 and starcraft 2. i know their are more but i will have to look up their names.

another name you should be looking out for, next year October 1st to September 30th is called, Tiberium, command and conquers 2nd shooting game, captain havok aside. it should be interesting what the main aim is. scrin related and so on (uncertain).

Shattered Horizon would seem interesting but my current financial status prohibits me from investing into a momorphugher and hardware.

DNF, Doom 4, that new Wolfenstein game, and Starcraft 2.

I might be interested in the new Red Faction game. Though, I'm not sure at the moment.

Spore is going to be released in about two weeks so...

Spore and Half Life 3. Not episode 3. Purely for engine development. I wanna see what physics it brings while being less of a spec-whore than Crysis on that note Farcry 2 as well.

What I'm looking foward to, Half Life 2: Episode Three, GTA IV Pc, Crysis Warhead, Project Origin, Need for Speed: Undercover, Duke Nukem Forever, Doom 4,
Call of Duty: World at War, Resident Evil 5, the new Wolfenstein, Splinter Cell: Conviction (hopefully with less bugs than Double Agent), Aliens: Colonial Marines, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, They Hunger: Lost Souls. There are more, but I can't think of them right now.

For some reason, I dislike Red Faction. It has it's own storyline, I think, but because it uses technology meant for Descent 4, I consider it to be a rip-off. :blah:

Red Alert 3, Crysis Warhead and Far Cry 2 are the main titles I'm interested in during the next few months. If you consider games more than a year away, then Deus Ex 3 and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

This one could potentially be very good, but I haven't heard much about it at all lately.

This has been delayed to 2010, so it's quite a while off. Hopefully they will take their time to make it good and do justice to the first three games of the series.

I'm not sure this is even in production anymore. I have not heard anything about it in years.

Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
This got me hyped since I didn't know there was a new Riddick game coming up. But then I read;
Quote
is an upcoming video game for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The science fiction first-person action game, is anticipated to be largely a remake of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.
There went my interest. :sigh:

I liked Escape from Butcher Bay a lot.

probably that strange behavior towards big companies wanting the system shock title. more or less literally telling them to **** off.

thier is quiet a range of space game on their way out this year more then ive seen for a while. i hope they aren't as dull as SOASE.

i will see if i can find doom3 before i see to this doom 4, it sounds to me like quake 2 within the story mode of sorts.

Post by: Vidmaster on August 27, 2008, 08:24:29 am
Assault on Dark Athena is a remake, that's true but with a new engine, some new features and level segments (if you compare the pc version to the xbox version, I know that just one new level section can make a huge impact) and a completely new addon campaign.

Too bad it's on ice.

I'm looking forward to:

Spore, Red Alert 3, Half Life 2: Episode3, Tiberium, Diablo 3, StarCraft 2, Dawn of War 2, Bioshock 2, Legendary, Demigods. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Downloadables would be KoTOR TSL Restoration Project. Hopefully by the end of this year it'll be done.

Here's to hoping for a KoTOR 3.

the Sins of a Solar Empire addon (if it's got that announced single player story mode)
First I've heard of it. It is relevant to my interests!

thier is quiet a range of space game on their way out this year more then ive seen for a while. i hope they aren't as dull as SOASE.
Sins isn't dull. Its a fun game. The games just tend to drag on, but that's what makes the game epic.

Not terribly original:

-HL2:Ep3
-Spore
-Starcraft 2
-RA3
-DX3 (as long as they don't kill it with another console port; while DX2 wasn't bad, it nowhere near lived up to the potential of the original).

Also interested in seeing what Irrational/2K dreams up in the future.  SS2 is probably my favorite game of all time, and thus far I'm fairly impressed with Bioshock but also disappointed that they've dropped many of the RPG elements I loved in both SS2 and DX.  Running around collecting cybermodules/skill points and upgrading the character's abilities was a great deal of fun.

Frankly, I'd like to see a third System Shock game to tie up the franchise but which retains most of the character development of SS2 before I'd want another Bioshock-style game.

if you say so stormkeeper.

mp-ryan i am also looking forward to if their is another system shock title also. i want to know what happened to the hacker and his creation, shodan and her organic monstrosities.

ea have the rights on ss3 so i hope they get it right, system shock 2 is a great game indeed and i dont want to see that title destroyed by ea's normal bug ridden development and typically poor storyline works. according to wiki the ea team has put the team that did the godfather game on the system shock game and that was over 2 years ago. nothing hs been seen since however i am unsure on that point.

Right now I'm somewhat idly looking forwards to Fallout 3, and insanely enthusiastically looking forwards to Dawn of War 2.

Sins is no Nexus but still a nice Space 4X. Just more diplomacy aspects, more tactical options in combat and a single player campaign and it would be timeless.

Hey, stormkeeper, whats DX ?

oh machina.. i never played. thanks ghostavo.

if i ever get my pc to run rtcw:et i would play it, it might be the same as quake wars however its far more smaller and generally full of action. base rushing is always good.

Hey, stormkeeper, whats DX ?
Deus Ex.
There's a 3rd Deus Ex in the works, but not much info has been released yet.

My friend told me that if you look at Bioware's financial reports, apparantly there's a KoTOR 3 on that list. I'm looking atm, but its a bit hard to find their reports.

well it's confirmed that there will be a MMORPG in Kotor setting. However it's unsure if this is a Kotor Online or the actual Kotor 3 (PLEASE, NO!!!)

If its a KoTOR MMO, I might just take a little demo. But I doubt I'll play it long term. Or just on private servers perhaps.

im not sure the newer games are that good but i hope one day to play :-

sins of a solar empire and spore.

i dont think diablo 3 and sc2 are going  to be that revolutionary. how much more can you add to those genres anyway? I much prefer going back to older games which were once buggy on release but which have been patched up beautifully and work like a charm :-

nexus jupiter incident (ok still being patched)
vampire masquerade (especially Redemption)
Dungeon Lords -- this is fully patched and works now and its really like Elder Scrolls Oblivion running on a low spec machine (very nice gfx).
Fable - yea now it should be cheap to get, great game.
Fate by Wildtangent - the bext diablo clone so far. better than diablo really.

so lots of great games still in the older category. newer ones all bound to be buggy.

Mmmm. Yea, Fable. I loved that game. VtM, I never played far, because my friend wanted it back, so i didn't finish it. Only got pass the haunted house quest.

I heard that Transport Tycoon was quite well-received.

Who's waiting for Silent Threat: Reborn? Goober's just posted in Announcements.

KoTOR = Knights of the Old Republic. There's 2, they're both excellent RPGs imo, although KotOR 2 is somewhat incomplete. A fan restoration project is underway, and looks like it'll be done end of this year to early next. They're set in the Old Republic, about 3000 years before the movies.

We are planning to exploit the License Back of “Fallout” MMOG and are reviewing the avenues for securing financing of at least $30 million to fund its production."

While the Company is working to secure funding for the development of a MMOG based on the popular “Fallout” franchise, the Company is at the same time exploring ways to leverage its portfolio of gaming properties through sequels and various development and publishing arrangements. The Company is planning, if the Company can obtain financing, to develop sequels to some of the most successful games, including Earthworm Jim, Dark Alliance, Descent and MDK. The Company has reinitiated its in-house game development studio, and has hired game developers. Initial funding for these steps will mainly derive from the remaining proceeds from the sale of “Fallout” and license arrangements that the Company enters into.

Next year's going to be pretty stale for games, what with the giant economic recession et all. The only thing that catches my eye is Final Fantasy 13, and then only because I can rip it apart and show the world the inner re-re-re-re-re-re-hashed pile of noninteractive story and cutscenes it really is.

Twilight Princess (pretty sure i already have it, one of the presents is the exact smae size of a wii game box, and it has that super-deep opening groove, too deep for a DVD case)

and SupCom Forged Alliance
