Title: Error after universal truth
Post by: jkalltheway on June 20, 2009, 10:15:26 pm
After i beat universal truth, i get an error that tells me i'm missing one of the ships models. What do i do? O.o

After starting the mission, it says something is warping in, ut there is no warp, nor is there a ship.

Hrm!

Well, I know what the problem probably is. For some reason the Renjian (a Karuna frigate) isn't loading or isn't present in your VPs.

Are you running the latest (3.6.10 version) of Blue Planet and using 3.6.10 RC3 as your executable?

Also, I'd just like to know: is 'Universal Truth' a pretty sweet name, or what?

'Universal Truth' nicely fits with the unveiling of the purposes of greater races - the Shivans and the Vishnans. It explains their role in the universe and how they affect every lesser race beneath them.

I got Blue Planet from Turey's Installer, so i SHOULD have it.. if not then maybe i need to update it? At least, point me in the direction of where i could find that missing file?

I believe that version of BP is out of date. Download the version from the Blue Planet forum here (in the BP 3.6.10 thread.) You should be able to drop that VP into your BP folder, overwriting the old one, then just go ahead and play 'Universal Truth'.

Make sure you're using 3.6.10 RC3.

Erros aobut missing models usually mean that either you're using two or more conflicting mods simultaneously or some data is actually missing (corrupt files). fs2_open.log wouldn't probably hurt.

Those two BP patches should be irrelevant with the latest BP root .vp. On that note, you could try the 3.6.10 version of BP (thread stickied on this board). Then there's

Code: [Select]
Searching root pack 'C:\games\freespace2\mediavps\MV_Complete.vp' ... 4988 filesYour MV_Complete is broken: it should have 5253 files. Redownload manually.

There should be a notice on the FSO Installer thread informing people that the mediavps provided are corrupted. It would solve a number of potential problems.

Done. Why didn't I think of that.

Yes. Those patches have been integrated into the 3.6.10 vp.

And you need to download the 3.6.10 version if you haven't already. Under 'Blue Planet', 'BP 3.6.10.'

Yes. Those patches have been integrated into the 3.6.10 vp.
They've also been integrated to the original root .vp, as far as I know.

When I had this problem, I fixed it by deleting the Blue Planet patch VPs that turned out were redundant and actually causing the problem.
