Installed from GOG Installer for freespace 2 to d:\freespace2 (so that no uac issues arise)
From there, I downloaded the automated installer (and point it to d:\freespace2) and spend the next 6 hours or so downloading everything for it. It's finally finished, so I run the launcher, select the options and the mod and whatnot (following the "Idiots Tutorial"), hit apply, then run. FSO promptly chomps down over half a gig of memory and then the process dies after a few minutes. I never see any change on screen.
