Quake 4 owned Doom 3 in every way. Okay it was pretty similar in it's gameplay mechanics, but the way it was played and the pacing was a million times better.
I mean I actually finished Quake 4, but couldn't be arsed with Doom 3. After you do Hell there's nothing else to see.

it seems that all Id do these days is make a pretty engine, they really need better story writers.

Q4 was Q2 with a boob-job, strogg conversion was just to differentiate it from Q2 enough to stop complaints in my opinion.

What. Don't tell me you think they ever had any semblance of story in thier games at all.

Hilariously, they actually hired a professional writer to pen Doom 3's story. How a published author could bring himself to create a character like Betruger (or, well, just about anything in the game really) just boggles my mind. They might as well have cast a giant angry face with 'I AM TERRIBLY EVIL' tattoed on its forehead.
