Isn't there already a Shivan ship designated that? I seem to recall hearing that designation in the retail campaign, but I'm not sure.

Dudes, using names from the main FreeSpace campaigns is part of a long tradition. Many Inferno ships are named after FS2's single ships, just to give an example.
