Title: Victory
Post by: Spoon on March 29, 2014, 11:11:26 pm

The Terran fleets gather for the final blow against the Hertak flagship.
First they lure it out of hiding and then relentlessly chase it through the system, destroying its escorting ships everywhere it tries to flee.

The Terran admirals manage a complete military victory over the Hierarchy.

Hooray!

Hurray and jubilation! :D

Some vaguely-fitting orchestral animu music to celebrate:
Yes, I KNOW Touhou isn't an anime . . .

Together, we Admirals have destroyed the Hierarchy menace, saved humanity (and maybe Cyrvanity), and even outperformed Spoon's expectations of us! VICTOLY! At least, until next time . . . DUN DUN DUNNN!

A lot of the credit must go to Lorric and his mathematically-precise tactical analyses; without his help, we wouldn't have performed as efficiently.

Glorious! A huge thank you to Spoon and all the players :)

Magnificent. Truly magnificent and genuinely stirring.

A very fitting and enjoyable end to this campaign.

I thought showing each and every fleet like you did was a great idea, and also the way the battle moved around, the Flagship being herded. It prevent it being just a big pile of ships all at once and still saw everyone see their fleet kicking butt, and be able to clearly identify their fleet.

I got a chuckle out of all those flagship names and then niffiwan's flagship name came up...

I wondered if there would be a surrender, but we got the only ending we could really get, the big explosion.

Wonderful work. So where do we go from here, Spoon? And what of that mess with the Special Fleet? Or are we going to just sweep that nice and quietly under the rug? That could be for the best.

Anyway. Celebrate! Victory is ours!!!

I love that music, Lepanto! A real keeper.

Try muting Spoon's video and playing that music. I think it goes really well.

Thank you for your kind words.

Indeed, niffiwan. I too wish to thank you all. I firmly believe this experience has been greater than the sum of it's parts. It will be glorious to one day come back and read all those RP posts from start to finish, and maybe we'll even have a full set of turn videos to watch all at once as a playlist...

Praise Spoon! Praise the players! Raise your glasses, ladies and gentlemen! A toast!

To the Alliance, to the Empress and to the Dynasty - and death to the Hertak!

=========================

BTW, are those Delest cruisers I spy in the video? Could we have a close-up?

Until next time, folks. I might crawl out of the woodwork to post a final RP chapter, wrapping things up, but my schedule is really full these days.

Congratulations to all you players for going to far away places, meeting new alien lifeforms and then, kill them! (Observers get a good seat!)

I'm glad our feedback made the end result even way better, Spoon. My heartfelt.

Fan-utterly-tastic.

I must admit, I am a little teary as this could very well be the last time I see the Silver Arrow or 1st CRF again. (Na, will relive it)

Damn good job Spoon, across the entire game. Thank you!

Glad you guys like it

So some of my own thoughts:
It took me forever to figure out how to tackle doing a video that involved so many fleets and having them all be involved in the flagship's demise somehow. I was reminded of JAD's boss introductions and got the idea to do the video this way. Unforunately no lightning bolt of inspiration struck me and I had a bit of a rough time coming up with interesting scenes for each battle. When I had all the footage recording done and started editing I was reminded why its usually a smart idea to select the music first and make a storyboard and what not. So the end result was really lacking with good music sync unforunately. But I had already taken so much time finally getting it done, I just wanted to get something out there.
So while it could have been better, its still a pretty decent finale imho.

As for forum game 2, forum game harder. I do have some ideas but right now I wanna put all my focus into actually getting the new wod released some time. So it won't be any time soon.

This video was the first time I saw CRF ships and SOL FORCE. They look fantastic and I enjoyed watching this game even though I was only spectating.

Haha I like the camo you put on the UGCR ships.
However silly it is to have that sort of camo in space XD

I thought about bringing that up when I first saw the video.

Now that you have, I have to ask, Spoon, why the camo?

I personally liked the UGCR's tough metallic look that they had before better. The camo isn't bad or anything, it's different and distinctive, and it makes me imagine the mercs hiding their ships out in a jungle somewhere when not hired. I just liked the UGCR's look before more.

I hope this does not involve Lorric changing sides. Harder yes, impossible?, not so much. :P

Heh. No, my biggest aim in the game was I wanted us to go and explore Hierarchy space. I'm not going to be slamming the door shut on you guys, I'm going to be there with you kicking it down! :D

Camo because:
1. I like the look
2. makes em distinct from the rest
3. no matter how you paint your ship in space, it doesnt really matter does it? Not like bright red makes any less or more sense than camo.
4. deal with it  :p

Spoon, will you be creating the missing turn videos?
I'll be honest, probably not.

Spoon, would you mind giving me some information on the beam weapon on the front of the Lord class ship please?

I'm not promising anything, but since my ship constantly beams the Hertak vessel, if I do an RP post, I could do with knowing more about it. From what I can see, it has an extremely long range, and an extremely short cooldown, but can't penetrate the Hertak shields. It is an Armageddon though. So how powerful is it? And does it outrange the Hertak beams, which also have far greater range than other beams normally? Does the beam have a name?

Oh, and what planet am I in orbit around, and where does the battle take place?

CHI-ERLLC9v Laser
CHI-BC2 Ion Phasor
CHI-BCA1 Ion Phasor Array-4
CHI-BCA1 Ion Phasor Array-6
CHI-VLST100 Torpedo
CHI-VLS54s Gauntlet-3
CHI-VLS54s Gauntlet-8
CHI-BC3Fixed Ion Phasor
CHI-HPB1000k Heavy Phase Beam
CHI-HRC2v Rail Cannon 250mm

A range of 7000 (Hertak beams have a range of 8000), a lifetime of 5 with a cooldown of 6, the lord has 3 beam barrels under its nose so its constantly rotating fire between barrels. It has half the 'damage per second' of a Hertak beam.

The system the battle took place in was Aldebaran (though the skybox was actually for a system called Tallra where most of WoD2 would take place in)

Thank you.

Are the rest of those weapons on the Lord?

So it must be a powerful weapon even at half strength of the Hertak beams considering the raw power of Hertak beams.

Aldebaran it is then.

Even though I didn't play I thought it was a nice to watch the forum game unfold. I wouldn't mind joining in and having a go myself the next time you organise it but I'd be worried about not doing very well, especially if you make it harder. :P

Well, I'll do my best. Just keep your eyes open for the little holes in my plans and mistakes I occasionally make. :)

I would hope we get to have the same people in the game, so we can all finish it together, but chances are some people won't be available by the time the game opens up, and Spoon might make it bigger.
