Also, if I see random black triangles every now and then when I play GTA IV, would that indicate a problem with the disc or a problem with the 360's laser? Especially if I got the 360 Core system.

That already happened one time. I had jeremiah open it up and clean the heat sink.

EDIT2: Did some research and found out that star wars mod does nothing but put light sabers in the game and replace a couple of characters with star wars characters. It's not a total conversion mod after all.

RRODs can sometimes be solved by reflowing the GPU AFAIK.  Google / YouTube it.  Basically, XBOX gets too hot and the solder melts, so the connections to your GPU are lost, causing RROD.  To fix, it needs to be re-heated to the melting point for the solder so that the connections are active again.

This is why some people can temporarily fix an RROD by wrapping a towel around their XBOX and leaving it overnight.  It causes enough heat to re-melt the solder around the GPU and make the connections again.

BTW, ofc it would make sense, after you re-flow your solder, to try to find a way to mod your XBOX so it doesn't overheat again.  Extra fans, IDK.  Google it.

Considering the age of the owner in question, just find someone local to repair it for you.

Could be warpage of the mobo too, then you'd need an X-brace mod instead installed.

Soldering is a great skill to have, but your 360 isn't the thing you want to try it on for the first time.

GTA 4 has finally finished downloading today. I guess I'm about to find out whether or not it will run on my PC.

And guys, considering the age of my 360 and the VERY limited size of its hard drive, I'd be better off getting a whole new 360.
