uh, when was it up? I got tied up with coursework for the last few days and sort of forgot about this.

It was up for a day or so until it crashed. I'll try putting one up again when more people are available. Should I try for tracker, or no?

what do i need to join in this mayhem?

If you have Descent 2 installed, (or have the D2 CD) then all you need to do is download the latest version of D2X-XL from www.descent2.de, and extract the files to your Descent 2 Folder.

If you don't have it, then you can download the data files from one of the posts given earlier, and do the same thing.

Then just run the D2X-XL executable, configure your pilot, and choose "join tracker game" and enter port 28342, if we're using the tracker
Or if we're using udp, choose "join udp/ip game" and enter the ip address (will be posted here) and port 28342. 

With luck, I'll be able to keep a server going until late Friday night (as in after 1am EST).   I'm not sure how well my laptop can handle the heat though... might need to take some breaks here and there and let someone else host.

Ok, I'll be starting up the game between 8:30 and 9:00 EST (2am UTC).  I'll start with a regular D2 Level so that everyone can join in, and then we'll decide if there's any custom maps to fly.  It will be on the tracker and I'll edit this post when it's up.

Sorry I took forever to come back last night. The family decided they wanted to play a hand of cards, and well.. turned into like 5 hands... needless to say by the time I got back, you'd already logged off.

watsisname: I'm having a weird connection issue, and i dont think i'll be able to play any more today  .  Don't know why this happened after we just played perfectly fine.

I've got to let my laptop cool down for a few minutes actually, so I'll start it up again at 10:45 EST (3:45 UTC).
Mission will be one of the Panic series, then some custom maps after that.

Edit:  Sorry guys, I'm going to have to call it a night.  My laptop is really overheated (crappy cooling system) =/ ...and if I try running any graphics-demanding program, it starts freezing up on me.
@ Music1ian:  That's strange, we used to get that bug all the time in the past, (but could usually get around it by trying to join again repeatedly until it worked), but we've never seen that happen with the newer releases.  No idea why that happened to you this time. 
@ CP:  That was pretty fun, even with me getting pwned by you once again.  At least I'm getting practice in and improving my skills a bit.   I'll have to remember to set up panic level 10 for next time.
@ Everyone:  I really wish we could get 3 (or more) people playing together again.  I really miss the days of 4-player mayhem.
I'll be free pretty much any night of the week for a while, so if you're all free another night then let's try this again. Or, if you've got AIM and see me online, feel free to message me and I'll be happy to start one up.

Yeah, it was great to play this once again, sorry I had to go earlier. As you said, it would be a lot better if we could get at least one more person.

That sounds just like my crap laptop, although mine will overheat and throttle within three minutes on any game using 3D hardware.
