Okay, let's try one last time without the tracker:

Port: 28342
Version 1.6.58
Short Packets: UNCHECKED
"Improve UDP Quality": UNCHECKED

Checked again, no go. :(

If you have that computer connected through a router with a firewall, you may need reset the port forwarding thing. I had some problems with that last time we tried until I updated that setting, as some routers seem to change the local IP addresses (the 192 ones) dynamically.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
Hm, well since I'm on the internet connection of ResNet (my university's residential internet system) I'm not sure about the router thing. Everything is the same as it was the last time we played. Any idea how I'd reset the port forwarding thing assuming there is one?

Okay, I'll recreate again using the tracker.

Port: 28342
Version 1.6.58
Short Packets: UNCHECKED

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
Checked a while ago and still nothing. It detects the tracker but there are no games on it.

I guess if you're on a university-wide connection, there is probably no way to modify those settings directly, although since it worked before you most likely don't need to bother with that.

There seems to be something funny with this version though. It's crashing with the generic Windows error message whenever I start a new game, either a single or multiplayer one. I recently played through the D2 single player mission set using 1.6.41 and didn't run into any problems with that. I need to mess around with some settings and see if I can figure out why the newer version won't work.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
Do you still have an older version's .zip file? I think that might be our ticket if someone can upload an older version we can all use (where multiplayer works like before). As a last ditch effort, I'll try creating a multiplayer UDP "multicast" game. I have no idea what this option is, but I figure I should give this latest build every chance I can. Try one last time to see my game. :)

I'll await word from CP before switching versions. The server may be down at the moment even (I'm currently at work), but it'll be back up at noon pacific time.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
I checked it a few minutes ago and it wasn't there. I'm not sure how the multicast thing works, as it doesn't ask for any IP address.

I have a 1.6.41 exe, but it contains a few modified parameters I changed in the source. I think I can roll back the changes if needed though.

I'll try setting up a game myself a bit later, just to see if anyone can detect it. (otherwise there is probably something wrong with this version)

Okay, well it was up when CP tried to join.. so I took it down. I'm up for trying another version or trying to join someone else's game. Just let me know when!

Ulala:  I think we should go back to version 1.5.121.  CP and I had *some* success with it a while back, and it seems to be the most stable at the moment.  If you don't have it I can email it to you.

Re: semi-sub-offitial hlp super happy descent 2 multiplayer action!
Interesting, I just tested somthing, two computers both running 1.6.58, all settings correct, I can see the game, but there's a version error. Not a problem with the old version (but I'll be honest, it sucks).

Is there a later old version on anyones HD?

It seems old versions can connect to new versions
