Erm... Lilith? Rakshasa?
They're supposed to blow the snot out of fighters and act as heavy escorts for bigger capships. What's cheaper - 3 Aeolus cruisers or one Deimos?[/b]
A Deimos, but only because the Aeolus class of cruisers is so rare after Capella that maybe only 4 exist anyway, and thus would be very hard to get one's hands on. That's why I came up with the GTC Peleus in the first place.
I think the idea of an anticap cruiser (an example being the Lilith or the GVC Tuket featured in the 2nd and 3rd campaigns of the Eden Project) that could provide heavy firepower against both fighters AND caps, is a good one, since making a cruiser with heavy beam weapons is much, much cheaper than making a ship about 7x as massive (corvettes are about 3x as long, 1.5x height, 1.5x width). It would also be more mobile, and easier to replace if lost in battle.
