That video is a little unsettling. It would be nice if the food prepared itself like that for you though.

Seeing as how celery can feel pain, I'm a little concerned about how close this actually is to reality.

I doubt a potato would peel itself to death willingly, yet hilarity ensues.
And what about celery? there's a study or something like that saying it actually feels pain or something?

Well, the review says...
Quote
This starts with the main character Punie, who seemingly is a cheerful airhead magic girl type until threatened in any way, at which point her other dark personality comes out along with an assortment of wrestling submission moves with much more devastating effect.  So fearsome is "Punie-sama" that even vegetables commit suicide to make sure the club she's helping has a winning curry.
I guess they'd rather meet death than face her...

He he, hi there Firespawn. Thanks. :)

Well, it screams when threatened.

I choose to believe it can feel pain based on that.

So Macross Frontier completely blows the rest of the series out of the water.

The original still gets massive points for classic story, but Frontier's production values are through the roof. The battle sequences are just spectacular, by far the best in the franchise (excepting maybe Macross Zero's dogfights, which are just as good). The music, for the most part, is very good too. I don't much like Sheryl's voice or her stage routines (could she be any sluttier?) but her songs themselves aren't that bad. Ranka's singing voice is superior by far. Also, HOLY **** THEY BROUGHT BACK "DO YOU REMEMBER LOVE?"!

Now, Sheryl the character I don't have as big a problem with. She was well-developed and actually kind of likeable, which is rare for her character type. In fact, most of the characters were quite well-done. Even Alto's supreme indecisiveness during the Macross-required love triangle I can live with, since being indecisive is kind of a huge part of his character overall.

If I had complaints, it has to do with some of the writing decisions. High school episodes? A Zentraedi woman that turns into a loli when micronized for no reason? Seriously, writing team? It's tolerable because neither receives very much focus really, and even when it does the writing is still at least decent, but I would have preferred those elements have been dropped entirely.

Well, I do believe that's it for Macross. I didn't really dislike any part of it, though Macross 7 was definitely the weakest entry. The original, Zero, and Frontier are the highlights.

Re: What animes/series are you watching right now?
Have you not watched Macross Plus?  Because I'll wager that you'd have a new winner for animation quality.

Re: What animes/series are you watching right now?
I have watched Macross Plus.

It's also very good, but it didn't really blow me away as much as Zero and Frontier did, at least for the action sequences. That was a while ago, though, so my memories might be fuzzy. I think I might rewatch it, since the story was also kind of confusing.

Also, did Sharon Apple ever actually sing anything? All I remember from her concerts were disturbing holograms and low background music with almost inaudible noises that might have been lyrics.

Shame about the racist undertones.

I think I've been down this road before, but Macross, like Space Battleship Yamato, was a sort of coming to terms with Japan's past: the good fight, for the wrong reasons, everything lost, and rebuilding with the help of former enemies while other former enemies continue to be a threat.

The course of the series, perversely, evolves with the mindset of those working on it. Zero was the one that came from the ugliest place, with the peaceful islanders being fought over by the imperialists and communists, but Frontier's depiction of its enemies says a lot of bad things about Japanese views on the subject as well.
