Zakhaev's Words in the Call of Duty 4 Opening Cutscene
When Zakhaev speaks a sentence in Russian. I don't understand Russian, so I don't know what he says, but I'm curious.
To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

"Our so-called leaders prostituted us to the West... Destroyed our cultures... Our economies... Our honor. [Then says a line or two in Russian.]"

I have it on the 360 as well.

In the opening credits that end somewhat badly?

Uhhh, Arab people are unimportant, they all probably say "OMG AMERICANS!"

So what does the Russian mean? :sigh:

It is Zakhaev's son who says: You will all die soon anyway.
Spoiler:
He also says that ingame before he shoots himself
Being a native Russian has its merits although I am a bit offended by the way we are portrayed in games.

Well I think the Arabs would have a lot more room to talk. The sequence where you are Al-Fulani was pretty... Ehm... Offensive?

Oh yes. No denying that.

Especially when Al-Asad comes up to you with the gun, and you feel the heart beat......

I find the way Americans are portrayed in CoD4 demeaning and inappropriate.

Yeah they're shown as a bunch of idiots who like to invade Middle Eastern countries. Especially how there are loads of oil rigs along the coast in the first USMC mission.

Well if I must have bad guys, I prefer Russians over Swedes. And I meant that as a compliment for Russians. Russians are also more impressive as bad guys than americans are as good guys, both in games and movies. Americans as bad guys on the other hand, is more scary than cool.
Spoiler:
In CoD4, I think Russians end as pretty good good guys. They end up saving the player (with style) at the end, and considering what happened to the other player character, the whole scene actually holds the players interest. And since its the end of the game, most players remember that "yes, Russians saved me and mopped up the bad guys I didn't bother to shoot"

I find the way Americans are portrayed in CoD4 demeaning and inappropriate.
As non-yank, I don't know where you got the demeaning and inappropriate. I thought they acted as they always have, overconfident and arrogant. Thought now as I think about it, I think Snail has a point. But let the records show that Snail said it, not I...

About time americans got their asses kicked anyway. And I think it served to game pretty well, because I doubt many expected that to happen...
