Yeah. Game ends immediately when production ship get destroyed. I haven't fine-tuned the Arcadia death effects anyway.

Woooh, made my day. I simply love Narayanas and the Gaußcannon/massdriver shots looks really similar to BP.

As long as HW3 get's a good single player, not the crap we got with HW2 anyway...
On topic: Is it possible in HW2 to make the torpedoes destroyable and have the ships try to shoot them down with blobs or flak?

Yes it is, and I'm currently working on it. Expect more eyecandy on that subject.

How many of the weapon systems will be set as destroyable bits? Cause I recall being able to blow off like the Heavy Missile Batteries off battlecruisers and whatnot.
All of them like in the FS one, or will ships be able to retain a of their smaller PD-ish guns? Or none of them?

Initial goal was to have all of em destroyable, but this is actually gonna get too confusing and performance-demanding. Remaining systems will be the main beams/other heavy turrets, and standard subsystems (engine(s), weapons, navigation, sensors, reactors...)

IIRC the BSG mod figured out a method to have missiles re-target other vessels after their original target is destroyed. They haven't been terribly active recently, but I still have a few of their emails from my dealings with them. If you're interested, I can ask if they'd be willing to help you out.
And Excellent work. Those are easily the most detailed models and Maps I've seen in HW2 in recent memory.

Have missile retarget stuff isn't hard - actually, it's the contrary that wouldn't be easy to do, it's hardcoded. Missiles will still self-destruct if there are no other enemy ship to target in range.

Thats right. Man I haven't touched that game in too long. And now I'm curious as to what groundbreaking thing it was I thought the BSG guys did. Great. In any case, Excellent work so far. I look forward to the release.

Are you going to have the various factions team-coulourable in the slightest? Or is that going to be restricted to their exhaust trails?

I'm still not sure about. What I do know is that team-colored trails are hardcoded, and that if I choose to make the ships themselves team-colorable, it won't be more than a few stripes here and there.

That was why I was asking. If you had said "No Team colors," then I would have immediately gone hunting for the color combination that produced the greatest visual representation of Apoc Drive trails. But since that might end up being pink on green or something like that, I'll wait till you make a decision one way or another.

At least with the Karuna you'll have an easy time of deciding were to but the colored strips. Just replace the current blue ones above and below the nameplate with team-colored ones.

The narayana also looks pretty with different colored bits on the current blue regions, the stripes and the panels.

The UEF as a whole seems like it would be fairly easy to team color., except for maybe the Solaris and some of the utility vessels. Team color-able fighters wouldn't really be necessary, as the Drive trails would be more than enough to identify them by, unless you plan on making the trails nonexistent.
The GTVA would be a bit more difficult. The newer-generation capships could probably just have random stripes added to them without making them look too wrong, but the Orion is a whole other story. And I have no idea how you would handle Vasudans, assuming they show up anytime soon.

Is Serkr going to come as a unit when purchased? Or will you have to build each individual ship? I'm assuming that either way, you'll be capable of commanding them individually.
And I continue to be in awe of your work. Those are some of the best screenshots I've ever seen come out of Homeworld.

Individually, definitely. The only way to build em in group would be using squadrons, and you can't have different unit types in a squadron.

I can't help but wonder though, is this going to be balanced similarly to Bloodfleet's Freespace mod or have you got your own plans?

Balancing will be kept as close to FS and BP as the engine permits.

Excellent job! The destruction effects on the ships are looking particularly nice. I did notice that the Orion's beams would slip off the target if it was turning, but seeing as I also remember having that problem from HW2, I don't know how much you can do about that.
Still, great work on this, look forward to playing it.

Hi Matt! I'm following what you're doing...and let me say that it's really impressive! When will it be released? I can't wait to try it out...I'm an huge FS2 fan too, i've played it a long time ago with my good old pentium II...it was an experience...

Release date ? Frankly, I don't have the slightest idea. HWBP progress is quite an on-and-off business, as I can work on it only when I manage to gather both the time and motivation required.
Well, since you seem to be new here, make sure in the meantime to check the rest of the forum and enjoy the metric tons of user-made stuff hanging around !

yeah, no demos or anything of the sort until we figure out the balancing properly. its a mess as it is already.
that reminds me, gotta commit 4096^2 normals :p

Heh, no worries, you're not pressuring me or anything. If you want a quick status update, all Terran (UEF and Tevs) warships are in. Only a handful of fighters and bombers are in though, the warship-vs-warship balancing is terrible right now, and I haven't started warship-vs-fighter and fighter-vs-fighter balancing yet. If you want an estimate, I may be around something like 20% progress, as a wild guess.
And although I'll probably release first with only UEF and Tevs ships, I'll probably implement Zods, Shivans and Vishnans at some point too.

I'm glad to know that sooner or later you'll release something! I'll wait till that day and i'll follow you all! That's the best mod i've ever seen for HW2 so far (and i've almost all the mods that one can find...also the chinese one, with no localization!) and it's FS2 - based...that's....fantastic.
When i was a bit younger, i have played for hours with FS2, editing mission etc...just to watching the sj satanas vs the colossus, watching the battle static in my cockpit...now that FS meets HW...it's like a dream comes true!

Music is credited in the readme. They're pieces Darius dug up.
The subspace vortex is from ASW IIRC.

Yeah, workshop's cool in that everyone gets the new version automatically when I update the mod. I'm trying to get nuraynor and nuhyperion in before updating though.
