Has anyone mentioned the Boadica breaking apart to reveal the Iceni yet... Because the first time i ever saw ANYTHING like that in a game was in F-F-F-Freespace 2.

Oh yeah, the first time I did that mission, I was flying on the surface of the Boadicea and shooting up a Loki when Alpha 2 said, "The asteroid is breaking apart, Command!" And then I went, "Oh ****! Run!"

While Alpha 2 was saying that, I was blasting one of the Boadicea's turrets which ''insisted'' on firing on MY fighter.

I always think it's epic when I depart at the end of a mission in an Ursa. Just the sight of that huge bomber going into the vortex.

The JAD trilogy's use of Disco music. I know of no other non-dance game that uses Disco music in the same way

I heard that music in two different games already.. one is freespace and the other is dungeon keeper 2 and I must say.. I has the same shocking effect now than the first time I heard it.

You know, TBH I didn't actually notice the Disco Inferno playing in the background until my wingmen specifically pointed it out. I must be immune to disco music or something.

Well, can you imagine that you are running to the jump node for the first time (thus you didn't know about the nova) with a Herc II  with 3 Dragons behind you and slowly but surely get ripped to shreds...?
They killed me before the nova... but still, I still received End Game B. I guess  wasn't expecting such a loser.

Has anyone here died by collision (with a small ship) before?

I did. But it was in a FS mod, flying an F-15 with 5 hitpoints, going at 300m/s. I wonder how the hell could I manage to colide with a tiny fighter at such speed, with low maneuverability.

You could. 300m/s is the fastest that the GVF Ennead of INFR1 can go. Most canon FreeSpace ships do not have a maximum velocity that exceeds 80m/s, even with all power diverted to engines.

Yeah, I've killed a few shivans by smacking 'em. When I'm in a heavy fighter ramming becomes part of my strategy, since bonking a Manticore in a Herc 2 does essentially no damage to you but quite a bit to the Manticore.
