Re: Those special FreeSpace moments...
I like the Colossus in the way that there's no beam blind spot you can sneak in like the Sathanas. If a powerful ship attacked the Sathanas from broadside or rear there's no way the Sathanas can easily destroy it. It can't be said for the Colossus though . . .  ;7

*Ahem*
Hollow section of the main engine.

The player can find ways to exploit the strengths of the Lucifer and the Sathanas (Canonically in these instances), same can be done for the Colossus.
I've done it before myself.

And of course the Sath could always, y'know, turn. Or moon the enemy and smoke it with its absurdly strong LRed (which has better DPS than the Colossus's BFGreens)

A Common FRED mistake is to treat capships as stationary weapons platforms. This is possibly because maneuvering a destroyer is about as much fun as trimming my nails with a blow-torch.

There is a Great And Mighty Laser Turret defending the top of the Colossus.

Get a small ship to fly up there and blow up the TerSlash at the front.

If you think about it, the words describing sizes follows . . . miniscule - tiny - small - medium - big - large - gargantuan.
So actually there's a reason why the LRed has a distinct mark-up compared to the GTVA BVas and BGreens.

A Common FRED mistake is to treat capships as stationary weapons platforms. This is possibly because maneuvering a destroyer is about as much fun as trimming my nails with a blow-torch.

If you specifically order a Sath ( in the ships editor) destroy ship - GTVA Colossus - 50, the Sath will manoeuvre to face the Colossus even if it is broadsiding it if the distance is about 2 km max.

AFAIK Broadside engagements have to be scripted using waypoint paths

Save the topic. A lot of new campaigns came now, probably there were some great moments...
Let me be the first to mention that unforgettable moment in Windmills's second mission.

Let's see, more recent special moment... Modding the game so that all the music was heavy metal.

Blowing up the Ravana whilst listening to Judas Priest's "Hell Patrol" = win

Yes. I panicked even though I gave myself 800 000 hitpoints.

Well, this will be a serious spoiler to my campaign (Syrk), but I give a small detailed story:

Subspace with asteroids and a HTL'd Sathanas in it. It didn't look nice in that stage either.
Later, I felt like that the story context is asking for a cyanide nebula. I made it.
"Geez, where is that Sa---AAAAAAH!"

Imagine the shadow of the Sath arriving on your monitor with (I wanted beams but I was unable to FRED it yet). It looked like as if the monitor's been broken.

Well, I guess everyone will forget that till' we make that campaign so not just I'll get scared later on :)

I made a mission where you scan a cargo container. Right after you scan it the thing blows up.

I forgot I'd coded in the explosion already when I tested it the next day. Not sure if this counts.

Re: Those special FreeSpace moments...
I gave my ship 800 000 hitpoints in a Slaying Ravana remake I did and played it on Insane. The screen kept turning red every 0.3 seconds, I was disabled and my shields were busted but my hull took forever to drop to 98%.

I'd like to add "first time I found out the game gets glitchy when you have more than 130 entries in ships.tbl." It took me a decade to stumble across THAT one.
