What is FS3 going to be called, here are some of my sugestions, and ideas on possable campaigns, that could link in niceley with the current campaign.

Name: "Freespace: Edge of Darkness"
Name: "Freespace: Threshold of Endurance"
Name "Freespace: Surreptitious Nature"

Campaign: "the terrans and vasudans team up against the shivans for there first major offensave, meeting a new species on the way (HINT: The anchents are not dead, they just moved home)"

Campaign: "A fleet of ships get sucked down a huge wormhole and are spit out half way across the gallexy and descover new technologys"

Campaign: "You Alpha_1 are asigned to a covert battle group opperating behind enemy lines, you get to test new fihters, watch strange new weapons and destroy HUGE New complexes"

FS3... if there will ever be FS3, then it is developed by Volition.

Even when we now have the source, I am sure that we will only improve existing FS2, not making a new game.

Freespace 3 Arena; Just you, your ship and some rapid-fire mesons.
Freespace: Forgotten Justice
Freespace: The Charge (as in The Light Brigade)
Freespace: Vasudan Dress-up Studio
Freespace?: Not for long (comes on 4 DVD's)

Just forget FS3, the only and the only FS3 will be developed by Volition. Period.

There might be someday a fan made expansion for FS2 based on lately released source code, but that's about it.

OK so there is probably some copyright or somthing preventing us using "Freespace" but whats stopping us using "Free-space"

Actually I doubt there is any such copyright, since Freespace was originally a hard drive expansion utility before the game came out.

I really think that would go well with all of the stuff going on in the community

No, Steak, I don't. Based on the topic, the scarcity of secondary information in his post, and my own first thoughts when I saw the source code unzipped on my machine, I'll take it to mean that this is one of those small, unexpected victories that you never expect to see.

Say, that reminds me. Can we bring back a few bits and pieces from FS1? Like distinguishing between Turrets and Huge Turrets, and the simple background nebulae? I sooo want the OEM afterburner trails again.
