Title: savegames fred2 open 3.6.9

hello!

i want to change my OS from winxp to kubuntu. i'm glad, the game works on linux. i want to save some relevant files on dvd, the savegames too. what files do i have to copy, to integrate them in a new installation of the game in kubuntu?

Just copy your entire FreeSpace folder. And get the Linux version of the game engine.

sounds simple. the files in the folder are able to be directly used both windows and linux?

Yes. Well, the Windows exes will only work with WINE under Linux. And I think .inis might also have issues, though that can be circumvented with command lines.

But in general, yes. All the game files will work on both OSes and it'll save a helluvalot of (Turey's) bandwidth if you copy everything to the other OS with a DVD instead of downloading it again.

All you need is the Linux .BINs or whatever, and the Linux Launcher.
