It's me again!
The TAP staff is proud to present the new Hyperspace jump for TAP! Yes, the following vieo was posted 4 months ago. But hey, now that I announced it, I hope it draws more attention to you all that we are still alive and going!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=tHYniNFnx_o
Still need some refining and tuning, we know. So don't coe bugging us for it :P
EDIT: GOD! YouTube removed the video! Arghhh.... :hopping:  :mad2:
EDIT2: Hmmm....now they put it back. Wonder what that was for.... :doubt:
-
Oh....it is very complicated. All I can say is that it involves the tweaking of a .tbl. All other info, I am banned from saying out loud :P
-
very nais.
-
IIRC, it is a mix of the BTRL warpin and the basic warpin... nubbles, do you have a higher res version of that one?
-
Not bad, but given what I remember from playing the three Homeworld games recently, the borders are sharp enough, but the interior should sort of look like it has large ripples across it. Almost like water. In that video, it looks like static, not ripples. I'll try to get you folks some screens from Homeworld: Cataclysm, since it's the one I've played most recently.

You mean higher res video or higher res map for hyperspace?

Would be nice if you can  the world will be a much better place with people like you. ;)
-
vid you fool :P
-
Yeah....I know Youtube would cause those problems. (Since Youtube .swf format is not made for prettyness.)
-
You can have high detailed videos now though
-
True - but can't be bothered to reupload them. (I have 54kb upload speed)
-
Ooooooo.
Never played Homeworld before, but this is purdy :)
-
Ummm....somone removed the video!!!!!!!!!! :hopping:
-
... Nope, I'm watching it right now.
Yea, hyperspace, depending on the core, is literally like opening a door into the space, and its either yellow (first core), blue (second core) or green (third core). The 'door' is usually depicted as a smooth wall, and it 'eats' away the ship; if you watch a hyperspace jump from the front, you can see 'into' the ship. Not sure if you would want to make the hyperspace sequence like that, but i think CaptJosh's idea of a ripple effect does seem appropriate.
-
Oh yeah? Then Youtube hates me.
"We're sorry, this video is no longer available"
-
Try watching it again?
-
Already did
-
It works for me...
-
ctrl + f5...
neways, the current hyperspace graphics are well... placeholders. it'll look much prettier when we finally make it properly.
-
Ummm...force refresh also failed....as long as it works with others, it is fine with me.
Pece, please discuss in Private forum on how to improve hyperspace stuff.
-
mhm, sure. *boots you to private*
-
I found this wiki (http://homeworld.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page), I hope it helps.
-
Well, certainly does look useful. Let's hope it'll assist us in some ways.
Thanks :D
-
to all interested, we need ships canon ship measurements (at least length). at least for the capships.
-
Ship measurements are a bit harder to find, but Homeworld 1 & 2 ship statistics and canon class names can be found here (http://shipyards.relicnews.com/taiidan/index.html).
On the topic of ship sizes, I don't think there are any canonical measurements, but there are some relative size comparisons done by fans, for Homeworld 2 (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=83943) and Homeworld 1 (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=8043&page=2&pp=15) ships.
-
Can't you do some basic calculation in-game ?
-
Actually, yes you can.
Using a resource collector, position it at the end of a capital ship you wanna measure, say a Hiigaran battlecruiser. Then use the sensor manager and use the move command to measure the distance. Unfortunately, this only works with super capital ships and the flagships, because they actually appear on the sensor manager. The others only appear as dots. But you can measure the length of a battlecruiser and use it to approximate the lengths of the other ships.
-
Great guys, TAP is back in business. ;7
-
I'm busy re-learning and practising FRED so I can fred for TAP. Subject to their approval, of course.
-
Am going to post another teaser thing soon....as soon as I finished builiding my new PC and transfering everything to the new one
-
As I promised, I will release some screenshots before I go on holiday (3 weeks without internet). Here they are.

and note, those are the old models. not the new ones. and until we get someone to do the textures we're not releasing any. :p
-
Oh. Then do you have an old model of a Battlecruiser ? :p
-
:eek2:
From far away, I though you just took HW2 screens and used them...
tehn I clicked...and I was pleasantly surprised.
-
The background is deeply impressive!
-
Yeah, that was what made me think it was the actual HW.
You guys got the "feel" dead on.
-
Its supposed to be the Tanis Wastelands?
-
yes.
