The Neverending Dissonance (C2:03 bug)
I've been trying to play mission C2:03 (Dissonance), but I haven't been able to get past that mission; I can play it up until the Rim Union transport docks with Skyark Alpha and I destroy it, but it seems that some mission-critical event isn't being triggered.

I attached an FS2_Open.log to my post in case it helps

Yes, I do. I also attached an fs2_open.log to my post in case it helps.

Yeah, I'm also unable to finish this mission. After the desctruction of enemy transport docking to base, nothing happens. It's a shame, since this really looked like a great campaign. :/

Otherwise,

Load TM-59 Yari into heavy missile bank, engage Jormungandr from 8650m.

Alternatively if you're hotshot enough like I did - Load TM SPR-4 Diamondback into heavy missile bank, circle around the back of the Jormungandr, engage while evading AA fire. A single double salvo should be sufficient, as long as you have Blue 1's support.

try this

Hmm, I downloaded VPGUI from here:

http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=83920.0

Then I replaced the mission file 9-A. However if I try to save the VP file, there is an error "Error while writing VP file: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".

Which is very odd, because I'm pretty sure that I only have 1 VPGUI opened and I am definitely not running FSO at the same time.

Can someone help me with this, or can you recommend another VP extractor/maker program?

Re: The Neverending Dissonance (C2:03 bug)
You don't need to put the mission file into a VP. Just stick it in [yourmod]/data/missions.

I suppose I should have been more clear with that. Whoops. Sorry.

Re: The Neverending Dissonance (C2:03 bug)
I actually had a hunch that subfolders override VP files, since the DE HUD patch is also consisting subfolder only. I just wanted to do this mission patch "the proper way" by modifying the Core VP-file itself. Anyway, the mission works now, thanks!

But for future reference, what's your favorite VP handling program?

Oh and BTW, I don't know if it's a known issue, but the beginning of c1:06 is a bit funny since all the catapulted ships collide into the massive turret in front before actually getting to the battlezone. If the turret would orient itself to face the front of the ship, it wouldn't be a problem. But I don't know if you can orient single turrets in this game without giving them "artificial" targets.

Re: The Neverending Dissonance (C2:03 bug)
Editing VPs in not "the proper way". VPs are convenient for releases, but single-file patching is better done via folders.

Re: The Neverending Dissonance (C2:03 bug)
The turret issue I mentioned is apparently caused by FSO engine:

http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=2994

So until this gets fixed, we will have to bravely collide every time when catapulted ;P

It's already been fixed. :P
