Agreed, I'm certain it's fine as long as you inform and ask Qaz first. I wouldnt mind having more visitors but there's some occasional griefing going on that could be averted.

I also wonder how it would work if I'd annex a NPC-populated village somehow, or to have NPCs in my own areas. Perhaps a mod will come out in the future that will randomly spawn non hostile NPC characters, like how animals spawn?

As on inviting strangers, basically last time strangers found our IP, they threw water buckets on rails, planted I believe TNT and destroyed and mis-directed intricate redstone circuitry.

You should really consider cordoning off specific areas for new players to build, and giving all of us older players rights for everywhere. Then the server could show up on /v/ and it wouldn't really matter.

Maybe something like a large flat field with 1 layer of dirt on 1 layer of bedrock so no damage can be done. Then when it's desired to remove whatever is on it, it's way easy with MCedit or whatever to drag a box over the flat floor and remove it all.

Actually learning SQL, the only TNT detonation that has so far occured was earlier today caused by Sara. It was located at (50,36,-306) and caused the detonation of 21 other TNT blocks, destroying 1404 blocks in total, consiting of 1123 cobblestone, 212 dirt and a smattering of others.

Nah, that's just using logblock, it's ludicrous the amount of data it stores on people.

Hmm...I somehow missed the boldfaced line in the tree farm wiki entry that says that oak trees now (annoyingly) grow branches even when they're limited to 8 blocks in height.  That'll make things in my tree farm a bit more irritating.  What's even more annoying is that birch and pine trees apparently need a 7x7 space free of anything but their own foliage, so I don't think the trees I planted a square away from the wall will grow.  I don't really feel like expanding things out anymore, and my cavern turned out larger than I originally wanted anyway, so I might just not bother.

So I was wondering what methods you all use to gain XP most rapidly.  In my world I've slaughtered basically every living thing for over kilometers around, then had to bring in some cows and chickens for breeding purposes.  Although farming animals is a safe way to get XP it takes for ****ing ever, so now I just suit up in iron and go hunting at night.

I guess if I can find a dungeon I could manipulate it into a fairly easy XP farm, but until then, eghh.

I tried making a tree farm but ended up making a small spaceous forest as those branches were hitting other trees while I planned to put another tree in between them. Kinda annoying but it's also good having ubertrees.

Perhaps you could 'make' your own tree by using tree blocks and leaf blocks, if that doesnt automagically turn it back into a tree, that is..
