FSO and FSPort will solve this. Both can be acquired most easily with Turey's FSO Installer (link in my signature). With some serious graphical pleasure as well.
Dang, I no longer have leet posts.

Sorry that didnt help, the game is installed on an offline pc so i cant use the installer. It also only seems to be for FS2 im using FS1. Please help. I have tried all capability modes aswell.

Edit: Now found the problem, seems theres a link problem in the control panel, when using the FS.exe in the istallation folder the game launches fine! So how can the link problem be fixed?

K, if you have no Internet access on the target computer, the Installer is indeed out of the question. Unless, of course, you just install FSO on the computer that can access the web, then just copy the game directory to the gaming computer. Trust me. With FSO, it is possible.

On your original problem, can't help.

As a clarification, FSO is indeed FS2, but with an improved open source engine. Also, FSPort is a 'mod' that allows you to play the FS1 main campaing with the FSO engine.

Clarification for Lobo: He does not have retail FS2, only FS1. The SCP will not work with FS1. FSO is out of the question for him.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "link problem"... but have you tried creating a new shortcut to FS.exe (right-click and select "Create Shortcut")?

Negative.  Turey's installer will download FS2 Retail for him IIRC.

Edit: aww, beat me to it lobo.

Didn't know the Installer did that...

Learn something new everyday, right?

Quite. Learning never ends. But that's exactly the beautiful thing about the Installer. It downloads everything so that after running it, a new guy can immediately start playing.

Well..... almost immediately.  The new guy is required to install OpenAL and recommended to set up the game in the launcher first.

A link error? What error messages are you getting that show that as the cause?

True. That's why the post-installation notes say "You need to install OpenAL to run FSO". Which, unfortunately, is ignored by many, who then barge in here and start yet another "openal32.dll not found error any ideas??!?1  ;)" topic. But apart from that, the player is quite set for playing after running the Installer.
