Greetings from Germany.

I have a problem with the fullminant and great TBP 3.4.
If i start heat em ups Survivor the Game crashes.
The errorlog says in XP and 98:
fs2_open_3_6_9 caused an Access Violation in module fs2_open_3_6_9.exe at 001b:006758f3

Can anybody help me?

Run the debug build instead and tell us if it complains about anything. It will also create a log in your Data folder which might be helpful.

Well the crash is occuring when you try to use the extra models in the .tbm file.

If you go to TBP\Data\Tables and rename additional-shp.tbm to additional-shp.tbm.DISABLED should allow you to run the game. I'm not certain this is the best cure but it should work for now.

Okay I've messed around with my TBP drawer quite a significant amount while bug testing but unless I'm wrong that's not one of the builds that came with TBP is it?

IIRC TBP ships with fs2_open_3_6_9-INF.exe instead of fs2_open_3_6_9.exe (At least the official version does).

The errorlog.txt is only somewhat helpful. The really helpful log is the FS2_Open.log created by debug builds.


@IP Andrews (or anyone else who might know) Who was it who compiled the executables for you? Cause that's one of Taylor's builds unless I'm very much mistaken and I vaguely remember being told it was someone else who compiled the Inferno builds for you.

I use the TBP-Base-3_4.msi.

With TBP 3.3a it works on both PCs.

I found three other posts with this problem on Hard light, so i am not the only.

Can it be a memory management prob with 3.4?

Use the INF build that I mentioned. And see if that works any better for you.

I played a set of missins called survival mode and it works, but with the yump in of the centauri fighter it crashed with the same errorlog message.

I'll have to ask MAG and Orph3u5 if any of those mods are incompatible with each other (Do any have .tbl or .tbm files. Could one be altering something one of the other campaigns needs? ). In the meanwhile I'd suggest doing this.

Make a folder in your TBP folder called mods. Place all the files that end in .vp in there except these ones

B5-C-sp-EMW-3_0.vp'
B5-C-sp-RW-3_0.vp'
B5-Core-3_4.vp'
Survivor.vp'

That would reduce Survivor to it's own VP and the ones the game needs to run (Yes I removed Spark, Sparky_Hi etc. No you don't need them to run the game any more. Haven't since 3.6.7). If the game runs now we know that something in one of the other VPs was causing your problem.

Heureka, i found it.

It was a memory management prob.

I used SP1(SP2 makes Windows slower) and after the update: it works.
SP2 changes the memory management.

And i thougt, i can play it only in TBP 3.3a.

The same problem is now in the 3rd missin ofraider wars.
The only answer i have is a prob with the centauri fighter.
Any idea?
