Freespace dosn't work

I used Turey's installer to install Freespace 2 on my computer and when i tried to run it it gave me this error message. What shall i do now??? is it possible that the install version is bugged or lies the problem with me?
plz someone help me ~.~

The retail FS2 isn't downloaded by the Installer at the moment, due to bandwidth issues or somethin. Go to Home of the Underdogs and download FS2 from there. It might work with your current FSO install, or you may need to run the Installer again, once you have FS2. Actually, if bandwidth isn't a problem to you, download FS2 from HotU, then run the Installer and install everything to the same folder as FS2. Let's hope that works.

I still say that the dude is missing the retail files. fsphiladelphia has the exact same problem and at least in his case the retail vps are missing, since the Installer dooesn't d/l them.

Also, I didn't beam him, since I wanted you to have the honor.  :D

Yep. I'd bet money that's what the problem is for both of them the second I saw this post. Grab the HotU download. The files you are missing are all in there. There is no need to reinstall anything. Simply take all the files from the HotU download and unpack them in your FS2 folder.

Actually on second thoughts don't unpack the Data folder or any files ending in .MVE. Everything else should be fine.

duh i'm so stupid...
i was missing the retail data
and clever me i used my own retail version and now my game is half german half english ^^
i think i'll download the retail in english too

thx for the help guys i'm really gratefull

Well, how could have you known that the Installer wasn't downloading the retail files at the moment? Since it is advertised as a simple solution that'll download everything you need to play FS2.

Karajorma posted the link to HotU in his previous post. That'll get you the retail files, which are fully in English.

Just make sure that the registry key HKLM\Software\Volition, Inc\ doesn't have you set to German.... I've heard that causes bugs.  If its set to German, change it to English.
