i don;t know why but  MEDIAVPS don't work
i apply  fs2 3_6_10   and i sellect media vps  Mod ,, after that game load  --choose pilot --choose campaign(only freespace),until here everything ok,but when i enter in gate for play game FREESPACE CRASH DOWN (tell me -sorry for problem but MOD unknown 00000  ,and fs2   3_6_10  unknown 0000.
Only mod working for me is-----fsport    and   fsportmediavps  only 2 mods ,, but-Warzone.Twillight,Transcend,cardinalspear,blue planet,derelict,destinyofpeace and STL don't work

And 3_6_9  exe don't work.
Only wopk for me fs2  3_6_10  and 2 mods fsport and fsportmediavps
And just one problem--- when i play game in the middle of the game some red and green lines like-- laser  lines in the disco club is here.
if you know please help
My settings is:Video--opengl 800x600  32 bit
audio--generic software  but i''try with everything don't work

i have windows xp.intel celeron 3.06 ghz,  ram 1.75 gb,display adapter via chrome 9hc igp.

Not much of a troubleshooter myself, but I'm guessing you should paste a screenshot of your FS2 folder and then run the debug build for FSO and after it crashes attach FS2_Open.log, which is in your Freespace\Data folder IIRC. Then the real troubleshooters could help pinpoint the problem.

Yep, what Sololop said is correct. Run a build with a -d until it crashes, post the log.

Your video card may not be powerful enough for the MediaVPs. Are there any other games you run?

Betting on corrupt MediaVPs. Redownloading them manually from the release thread should help if that's the case.

In any case, run the debug build and post your fs2_open.log. And make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.

Now i do something on my will.
1.  i remove    "  MV_assets   " FROM FOLDER --MEDIAVPS------  and game now load.
After that when i again turn back    "MV assets"  game NO LOAD.
    I don't know what is problem.

2.  But just one problem i have when i load   MEDIAVPS----WHEN I TARGETING SHIPS IN RED     then in the screen have red-green blue lines(but full lines about 5-6 sm. ) and then i don't see the target.

if you know tell me what i doing.
now i lookong for update VIA CHROME  my graphics card.

Do you have MV_Complete and the MV_assets in the folder?  If you downloaded MV_Complete then you should only have it and MV_Music.  If you downloaded the files individually then it's possible MV_assets is still corrupt.

Ok, but the real question is whether or not it works.

The recent problems seem to be with the mv_assets downloaded via the installer.  A manual redownload of that file should fix it.  Do not use the installer to redownload it.

A screenshot would be cool: press Print Screen (may also be written as Prt Sc on your keyboard) while playing. The game automatically saves the screenshots to \freespace2\screenshots\ .

Most likely it is because of that "graphics card". And the only real solution is to get new hardware.

If it looks like this, you need to do the following:

Anyone experiencing graphical problems with the Shivan beams (typically people with ATI cards), please download these 16x512 resolution textures and paste the three files (SBeamAB, SBeamAD and SBeamAE) into "\FreeSpace2\mediavps\data\effects". If that folder doesn't exist, create it.

With your advices i can play the game now
For media vps problem i manualy downloaded MV ASSETS but again not work,when i remove them  everything is okey
But no problem i play without MVASSSETS.
Now i can open all MODS (yesterday i can't only 2 mods,but today i play all mods)
Only stay one problem this with my screen

what sort have graphics card have you got from the look of the screenshot id say you have an intel card , if so its not going to be able to run the mediavps without those sort of effects.....

Via Chrome 9hc igp. A "graphics card". As in, it can produce graphics on a display, if necessary. When all hope has been lost.

what is problem bro?

The beam textures are not good for your graphics card.

This is how you fix it:

1. Create a directory to ..\FreeSpace2\mediavps\data\effects\

2. Download this

3. Copy the files from the download into ..\FreeSpace2\mediavps\data\effects\.


That will hopefully help.

7zip files are archives, like zip or rar.

You need to open the .7z file and extract the .DDS files from inside it.

To do this you will need to install this first, after that you will be able to open the .7z archive.
