Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
What's in /blueplanet/data?

Do you have the original BP or the one from the 3.6.10 thread?

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
The cache folders are in the /data subfolders. e.g: /mediavps/data/cache or /freespace2/data/cache. Delete those.

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
He did, it sounds like.

Can you please just try using the MediaVPs themselves as a mod? Nothing else?

Also, try running a debug build (3.6.10 RC2 debug, or something ending in -d) until the game crashes, then posting your fs2open log from Freespace 2/data. We haven't done that yet, have we?

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
Ok, my miswriting.

There is no cashe folder in Freespace2\Data\
And no cashe folder in Freespace2\Mediavps\Data\

No crushes or error windows at all

Are you still running the debug build?

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
Yeah, make sure you select the regular 3.6.10 RC2 build, not the debug one.

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
Yes.
the only error message i received was about 800x600 loadscreen (in Blueplanet) while i using 1024x768

Since then, there wasn't any bugreports at all.

PS looks like system info ws only for Debug launcher.
Thanx very, VERY much to all!!!! :)

Please don't close this topick for a while.

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
DAMN.
There is another freezing.
i understood that i used fs2_open_3_6_10.exe (and debugger)
Not the fs2_open_3_6_10RC2.exe

Cose fs2_open_3_6_10RC2.exe...
And received usual freeze

We don't close topics here.

I don't know what's causing your freezings, a background Windows program sounds likely.

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
Wait, wuh? Okay, if you go back to fsopen 3.6.10, not 3.6.10 RC2, does it stop freezing?

You should run a debug build, load a mission, quit, and post your log file here.

Re: FSO freezes when loadign a mission
Ati radeon 1950pro

Just for ****s and giggles, try running the game with

-no_glsl

flag enabled and see if it still crashes.

Either manually add it to "custom flags" or locate it in Troubleshooting features called "Disable GLSL (shader) support".

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
3.6.10.rc2
Everything works perfectly (for now).

What it was??

Your video card. That particular series has trouble under 3.6.10.

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
Mmh. More specifically, the OpenGL drivers for it.

You might have luck in finding the OpenGL DLL file (atioglxx.dll if I recall correctly) from an older driver and copying that into your FreeSpace directory. Or you might not. A working file is somewhere in these forums I think, but I'll be damned if I remember where, and searching it might take a while (and success is not guaranteed anyways).

For now you can use the -no_glsl option and at least the game runs, right?

Re: FSO freezes when loading a mission
Yes.
The game runs perfectly, and i can't see any differences betwen using his option and not using.

Ok :)
Thanx very much

PS Looks like my buggy luck worked again... if it is a rare bug in a game - it'll find me
