Ok, so I finally get all the needed upgraded files yesterday, only to find a gaping graphics problem in-game.

The Fighters, the Galatea, and Nebula are all distorted or are missing faces, and there is clutter infront of the camera once the Galatea jumps in, and it gave me an error last time I tried to take a screenshot.

btw, is there and in-game screenshot command? I'm using the windows one.

In game screenshots can be taken by using the "print screen" button on your keyboard. They will be placed in the screenshots directory in your FS2 folder.

Now, to fix this: Try turning on the "Disable Setting of gamma" setting in the Troubleshoot section of the Launcher.
Should that not work, Select a debug build in the Launcher (fs2_open_3_6_10_RC3_debug.exe), run the game with that, and then post the file fs2_open.log from your data directory here.

Wrong log.
Run a debug build. It's called fs2_open_3_6_10_RC3_debug.exe. Go to your data folder. there will be a file called fs2_open.log there. Post that.

That is errorlog.txt. We'd like fs2_open.log, please.

Um, it's not there... I ran the Debug one... but it did crash on me.

There really should be. If you get warnings, click yourself past them (the option that is not breaking into debugger or quitting). Once in the main hall, quit.

Hmm. Are you sure about that? Even if the game only displayed the splash screen, it should still generate a debug log.

Looking at the crash log, the only thing I can tell is that

It's an HLP-wide upload folder, unfortunately. The mods must be very active!

EDIT: Oh, brother. You've got a ton of VPs in your root directory, I think? Are VPs like fsport_sparky_hi in with your regular FS2 Vps in the C/Games/FreeSpace 2 folder?

I did move str just a moment ago, Drivers are very had to find (ATI Radeon Xpress 1150, not on their main site anymore), trying to download new one's now.

Don't forget to delete the extraneous MediaVPs, you only need the 3.6.10 ones. Or move them to another folder and don't select it as a mod, if you want to keep them as a backup.

Thanks, E, just tried that and it failed to find the correct drivers on install (not in it's database appearently) Gateway version downloading now...

Ok, tried the game again, same graphics issue, still crashing. Waiting on new driver install, but it was working fine before yesterday's fun with upgrading files...

Another thing to try would be to use the "disable OpenGL VBO" switch in the Launcher's troubleshoot section.
