You're on integrated graphics, right? Is it possible your computer just can't handle it?

Well....I'm using a Radeon X1250, and I've seen at least some of the issues described. Using "Disable setting of Gamma" used to fix it with some of the older drivers. But then I am able to use the drivers straight from AMD, without having to go through my Laptops' manufacturer.

Here's one other thing to try. Go here, and download the atiopenglxx.dll JeffVader linked to. Stick it into your FS2 directory. Then try again.

I am, ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 integrated + 2GB Shared memory. It's always worked in the past, and I didn't have a problem until ghost-ship issue of yesterday (see my Installation Problems post). This started once I went to 3.6.10_RC3. It was fine (besides the ghostship) on 3.6.9

- \freespace2\data\cache\
- \freespace2\mediavps\data\cache\
- \freespace2\fsport\data\cache\
- \freespace2\fsport-mediavps\data\cache\

If you don't have one, you won't need to delete it.

I'm assuming that the drivers you're getting from Gateway(?) are severely outdated. Have you tried the atiopenglxx.dll thing I linked to earlier?

Yes, I did it on my own before you linked to it - it failed on install, said it didn't find a driver for my system. I'll try it again, but I think the Gateway one I just did is the newest.

    * These problems occur with ATI's X1[somethingoranother] cards. Just install the latest drivers for your card, then download one of the following atioglxx.dll files:atioglxx.dll #1 or atioglxx.dll #2. Place it to your \freespace2\ folder. This will make the game engine use the older OpenGL .dll without the need to tamper the drivers themselves. If one of them doesn't work, try the other one as well; they're different versions.
      Do not use the .dll's unless you're having problems with the game. Also, keep the file name as atioglxx.dll ; the FSO engine won't use the file if the file name is something else.

To be absolutely sure, this is what you did? Because there is no installation associated with it, you just download the file, put it into your FreeSpace directory, and off you go.

Oh, Missed those ones. I'm reinstalling ATI Catalyst Control Center, it's the control suite for my card, and should have all of that...Though I did have that file in there, as I've had problems in the past that required it. I'll nab it again.

Ok, that took forever! I have a new, or the *newest* ATI drivers, and that fixed nothing. In fact, it slowed down a bit, but I'm still working on settings for that. Still have graphics issues. This game isn't worth this!

Then don't play. We're here to help you in any way we can, but if you think this sucks, no one's forcing you to continue.

Edit: Try playing without the MediaVPs. If it works, it might mean that your rig just doesn't like the brand new spankin' MediaVPs, in which case you may want to revert back to the 3.6.8's.

Just getting frustrated. I like the game, but you don't know how often I have this kind of problem with almost EVERY game I have (all old, most unsupported anymore)

Ok, turned off mediavps and went straight to simple 'fsport' - now it won't even load right. I'll try a new pilot, but I doubt that's it.

Ok, why is it when I hit 'no mod' it goes to Silent Threat, which isn't even in that folder?

Won't load right...how? Is there a mod.ini in the fsport folder pointing to some MediaVPs?

Try running with 'no mod' in the launcher and see what happens.

bah. I've been at this for 4 hours now. I'm going to give up for today, I'll try again tomorrow or something. I'm getting rather frustrated with this. I wonder, If I couldn't just ftp someone's entire folder? Mine's apparently screwed up beyond fixing somehow...

Wait, huh? Just hit 'no mod', that button right in the launcher, and run the game.

Why would it pop up something about an image? Your install is really screwed up. Maybe it would be best to just FTP something...
