Title: Any guys out there willing to help a busy mod leader? (OPEN TO NEWBIES, TOO!)
Post by: Unknown Target on May 13, 2004, 06:56:39 pm
Hey all. Me again, with NTEOP. I've got a LOT of stuff to do, other than FS2, and I just can NOT find the time to get my baby going again.

I need some people (of all skill levels, from just joined to advanced), to help me out with some work.

I need a tabler, maybe a modeler (someone who can do LODs and import into FS2 is great, I'll take that even if you don't know anything else, because I already have some ships ready), and POSSIBLY a musician.

The tabler, however, is the most important thing right now.

Please reply ASAP!

Hmm, well I'm none of those, but *bump* for you. :) You could always pause the project and bags tablers, modelers, and musicians from other projects for when they're done, you know. ;)

What kind of tabler? Any specific one or just all tables?

If you could do anything that would be a bonus, but I really need someone who can do the ships.tbl.

I can do Ships & Weapons table files. I did try to learn modelling but Truespace is about as user freindly as a tiger so I gave up with it.

I would, but I've got four or five projects on my plate, two of them more important than the others.  While two of them are, essentially, linked, and another two are long-term things of no immediate importance, that's still a bit much for me.

Were I not tinkering with Fred2, trying to polish my mission-building skills, I'd help with the tabling.  I'm next to useless when it comes to modelling, however.

I can do fiction writing without too much trouble, but I need to know stuff about the background.

Can you do tabling?

I think anyone is smart enough to know how to open NotePad. Though the main question is - do they know what to put into the tables? ;)

I can *try* to write stuff in, based on the FS entries.  My knowledge consits of reading them (primarily ships and weapons) trying to fix where modders have screwed up and left files out.  *glares in Noise's general direction*

I can edit and try to add new entries, but I won't gurantee that it'll work.  I've never done much of this before.  I can read them without a problem, for the most part, and I ahve somewhat similar experience with reading datafiles, albeit, better formatted ones.

Alright. Peter, could you please send him the basic stuff i sent you, and give him the skinny on what you're doing?
A note, Moonsword: if it's in the tables that Peter gives you (the defualt ones that I sent you Peter) leave them. They're all meant to be in there. Thanks for helping! :)

I've played around a lot with almost all of the tbl files, though I've got the most experience with the ships and weapons tables, since I've got a habit of doing a mix-n-match game with all the mods available.  Given a general idea of what I'm trying to do, and enough time to poke at the things, I can get something close to the desired results.

I'm good at writing fluff, so I can do tech descriptions, if need be.  I'm also available as a proofreader for said tech descriptions and even mission brief/debrief/dialogue.

No, I haven't.  If you've got some webspace, could you stuff them up on it and PM me a link?  Hotmail's being an ass again, apparently.

Damnit....I sent it, and it apparantly went through, as I have not recieved a "Could not send" notice.

I don't have any public webspace that I could host this on. Do you have any ideas?

I have some webspace. I am setting up a FTP account so we can send files between each other.

If you check your PM's the login should be in there.
