problems with the custom exe's

i downloaded the custom exes so i could use the glowmaps 4 inferno, now when i play the game its plays so slow, stutters and basicly is unplayable. If i use the normal FS2 exe it plays fine, now i'm guessing that for the next release i will need to use these custom exes? i have a

Athlon XP2600+
512DDR ram
128DDR ram Radeon 9500 with updated drivers
directX 9a
7.1 hercules soundcard
windows XP home edition with service pack 1

Any clues?
