It doesn't. Check your ears. Then check your speakers/headphones. Then check your sound card.

that won't be necessary, im fine, you have any idea what's the source of all the sound work in the mod ?

the sound in the babylon project sucks
That description is so comprehensive that it almost makes me cry. Could you be even a bit more specific? How does it suck? At what point does it suck? Does it suck all the time or on certain occasions? Do all sounds suck or just sound effects/music/voice acting?

yhe, you're right my mistake, can't really blame the voice acting because it's bandwidth and purpose is too simple to need to be too high, the music and the effects suck in terms of all the time as if they were compressed like mp3 and also as if they were recorded from a bad source (combined it makes it sound sucks)

TBP sound effects were recorded from the TV show and movies. It was often very difficult process to find the most clean source of an effect and then put it through post-processing to get a clean sound effect, rid of other effects and music. Initially there were no DVD's available and most effects as far as I know, have not been recaptured from DVD sources. Expect quality as such. Music could be of better quality since soundtrack CD's of them are available. But we don't want the soundtrack CD sales to decrease nor do we want a RIAA lawsuit being sent to the TBP staff.

Game is great, for the fans of the tv series or the freespace series, is a pleasure can be part of this, at list, be a part as a player...jjejejejeje, and saying that the sound of the game sucks (that is not true, the sound better than good), is a disrespect to the staff that has put a lot of work so people, anyone , can enjoy it. This is of course my personal opinion.

Bytes!

Well..... as original stuff member......
The sound is OK, I think there is no one here to improve it anyway, so.... be grateful for what you've got ! :)
The only thing that sucks is the season 5 music in mainhall. Oh , it was great, but actually, me doing EACW missions and testing them all the time.... I CAN'T BEAR IT ANY LONGER.
I will alter my IO mainhall to be SILENT, DISCIPLINED, REMORSEFULL... lol

Well...unless something happened in all of the years since I last checked...the sound work was done by capturing audio clips from the show from broadcast TV.  Anyone technically inclined will see why this is a problem.  Sometimes there was music over top of the only good sample so it was worked on extensively.

Add that and put on top of it the limited sound capabilities of FreeSpace 2 at the time (this is pre pre pre source code days) and you have a recipe for lower quality sounds compared to the expectations of today. As the code and materials are all there out in the open anyone with motivation and ability can do whatever sound package modification they want to.

Sound is good and even the voice actors. :)

There were some glitches in terms of who says what. I posted them here. http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,54190.0.html
