Title: 158th Hiring thread
Post by: Vespero on August 11, 2004, 04:37:36 pm
I am willing to use my voice to help out. I'm doing some voices for the WC Saga mod (I go by a different name there), and this project also looks very worthy of some community support.

What lines do you want as an audition?

Vespero

We're now also hiring modellers and texturers, in addition to voice actors and fredders.

A couple of months late, but I can help with voice acting and FREDing. I can do something like a young male pilot, fresh from the Academy or something. :D

I'm also good at FREDing, just don't ask me to do any variables. I still don't know how to use the damn things.

Send me a sample mission demonstrating your fredding skills.

Well, I'm almost finished with my sample mission. I'm gonna send over an Orion nameplate with the mission. It just says "GTD Orion" because I thought that would be cool. Do you want me to PM you to send the mission?

Damn. Now every time I try to open FRED2 it crashes. Sonofa****! Maybe I'll take off the nameplate.

*sighs* Well, I'm almost done with the THIRD version of my mission. This will be my concept mission. My missions always turn out to be assault missions, and sometimes an occasional rescue or protect something mission.
Title: FINISHED!!!

My third version is finished!! *email's Spicious* I want feedback. Oh, and tell me if you would like me to voice act for ya. Like I said, a green recruit or something. ;)

Spoiler:
The mission is about the man played in the main Freespace 2 campaign. About a year after the Capellan incident, Alpha 1 is recommended by Admiral Petrarch for police duty due to increased pirate activity.

Think of it as a demo for my upcoming campaign.

It will take some time for the owners of the shop to show up, don't worry about it.

They 'll be here.

Well, if my sample mission is liked by Spicious, I might be a new face in the 158th Banshee Squadron.

If you still want to do voice acting, record the following lines:

Actually, that was one I kind of threw together. In reality, that mission will be in Pathways (my new campaign), but a little more refined.

A sample mission is supposed to be refined.  The point of a sample mission is to show your skill at creating a quality mission.

OK then, I'll make a new one.

Spoiler:
It will be my own version of the last mission of Silent Threat. Might be kinda close to the original, though...

Never mind. When I get the time, I'll record the lines. I'll have to put it in one .wav, since hotmail does a really crappy job of uploading voice files. Need your email.

:wtf: i just found out that goldwave makes .wav's at 10.1 megs... used a different freeware recorder that makes the MUCH smaller. Sent 'em to Spicious.

Cobra, I think maybe you were using the wrong settings. Even with Campaing briefings I never had any single wave file close to 1MB! Biggest I had was like 800-900kb and that was a pretty hefty paragraph!

Post by: Cobra on December 19, 2004, 01:56:27 pm
Yeah but now, all my .wavs are less than 50kb.

i use goldwave, and i guarantee you that i had smaller wav files than that
