Title: Screencam script
Post by: Admiral MS on September 16, 2012, 02:58:40 pm
ScreenCam Script

What it does:
Stop the time and fly around or check the current battle situation.
Useful to take screenshots of any situation from every possible angle and place like these: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=25406.msg1638700#msg1638700

It comes with its own interface (created by MjnMixael) for the ScreenCam mode:

The ship save/load script is also included as ScreenCam requires the copyship function.

Download:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/gp7m5c17y9ktf86/ScreenCam_script.zip

Installation:
Unzip into your FS directory and select ScreenCam as mod in the launcher or add the files in the ScreenCam folder to any mod.
Use 3.7.2 or newer (Should work from 3.6.16).

Use:
To activate and deactivate the screencam mode press Alt-1. Gameplay should go on normally after deactivating the script.
Alt-2 enables and disables normal time compression (x1 / x0.0001).
Deactivating the script is only possible when the player ship has a speed of zero!
The script may break a mission and prevent finishing it, especially when used during cutscenes

If the script should be included in a mod there are functions usable with the script-eval sexp to enable ( scram_act() ) and disable ( scam_inact() ) the script. Default setting is enabled.

Please report any bugs!

Probably not until the fixed version is done. Let's not upload stuff to FSMods that will become obsolete in a few, shall we ?

Err, my though would be that any updates get uploaded to FSMods as a replacement to what is already there, so the old versions aren't kept.

I don't think so, but there is a "temporary uploads" category for that purpose.

Since Goober fixed http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=2714 the script is now working as expected.
Updated the first post with the new, easy to use and generally better version!

Here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTPLej_EanM) is a video example of how it works. It's quite handy for getting the perfect screens.

can this be installed in its own folder and used in other mods by way of mod.ini, or do we need to copy it into every mod folder we want to use it in?

You should be able to use it whatever way you want. Setting it as a required mod in a mod.ini should be as good as copying the files where you want. There is a mod.ini in the screencam folder itself which you may have to remove or modify because of the mediavps entry.

Updated:
- Alt-2 now enables and disables normal time compression while in ScreenCam mode
--> Use this if you want to wait for a certain situation to develop without having to switch back to your fighter all the time
--> This is very likely to break all sorts of things

Updated this one as well for 3.7.2 as it uses the shipsaveload script.

Edit: Nevermind, it's just an issue of FSO not being able to handle two scripts with identical names (for obvious reasons).

I had some issue with the archive - it had mod.INI extension spelled with CAPs, so launcher doesn't count it like a mod.
